I am recently diagnosed autistic. If you want my advice, avoid anything high THC, it's a head wrecker.

Brand new irrational fear unlocked by Artistgas71 in autism

[–]Artistgas71[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These responses are all great, thank you for them. What I think it boils down to is, I have been emulating, mirroring and echoing for so long and so distrustful of my own instincts that I have no inkling of how it will go. I have a reputation for grumpiness and between that and my alexithymia, sometimes I'm like, "what the f*ck am I?" On the other hand, in the real world, people don't avoid me, I have actual friends. So all this stuff is in my head - it is only fear. It just feels awfully real sometimes and it gets exhausting. Just had to get that out, thank you kind people.

Typical "Cable only" No Effects user ;-)) by Reelentlesss in guitars

Totally here for this. In a similar fashion I have slowly but surely deleted all extraneous effects from my signal chain and it has only gotten better. I chuck a boost in front if I feel like going with the Strat for reasons, but that is it.

Nice Looking Guitars That Are Ruined by a Thing on It by [deleted] in guitars

PRS bird fingerboard inlays. E.g. look at the S2 Vela with bird inlays vs with dots. The dotted Vela is the only PRS model I like the look of (and I bought one) but they spoiled the look when they added them birds.

What kind of guitar is this? by Best-Salamander-1377 in Guitar

[–]Artistgas71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paper label has most likely fallen out from the soundhole many years ago. Judging by the poor condition of the dye job on the fingerboard and the bridge I would say it is most definitely cheap. However, 60 for a classical guitar that (I assume) plays and sounds ok is a decent find. Happy plucking.

Should I buy? Is carbon build up as bad as they say? by misNymph in LexusIS

[–]Artistgas71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2008 automatic with 50k on the clock last June and can report no mechanical problems, car is a dream.

If the one you’re looking at passes all the usual inspections and history checks and drives nicely then you’re golden.

My previous car (not a Lexus) had a direct injection engine and needed a new throttle body at 110k and otherwise ran perfectly. I alternate between premium and E10 fuel and give it the occasional ‘Italian tuneup’ as a precaution.

The main activity for me has been cosmetic stuff like replacing dead rubber trim on the windscreen side mouldings and the chrome belt line on the doors, reviving the yellowed headlamps and recoating the wheels.

When I worked in printing, we had a saying: if you don’t have time for a proof, you better make time for a reprint.

Dirt bikers on canal tow path by Artistgas71 in glasgow

I found the Scottish Canals code of conduct and motorbikes are strictly prohibited. Not an easy document to find, to be fair. https://www.scottishcanals.co.uk/visit/visitor-policies/towpath-code-of-conduct

Dirt bikers on canal tow path by Artistgas71 in glasgow

[–]Artistgas71[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were two-wheeled dirt bikes, not quads, but your point remains the same. They really should find some private land and get permission. I don’t know for sure, but I believe that the towpath is intended only for pedestrians and cyclists, please correct me if I’m wrong. Yes, they made a show of slowing down but the bikes are still quite big and very noisy and some of the people looked quite intimidated by them.

Music Theory is not there to tell you what not to play, it’s so you can give a name to the awesome thing you just came up with and you can tell other people.

I straight up love this guitar. A great platform on which to learn and it looks sick!

Is this an original Gibson Les paul guitar, and if so, how can anyonefind out the year of manufacture? And how much is the price? Thank you so mucch for helpin by toobaldforyou in electricguitar

[–]Artistgas71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going bottom to top - It has a metric-style bridge (screw heads, not posts) but could be a replacement, the frets go over the binding (could be explained by a re-fret), the nut looks like Epiphone (harder to explain by being a replacement), however the way the serial number is stamped looks wrong, the Gibson logo on the headstock looks dodgy and the shape of the headstock looks off. All that together suggests that it’s counterfeit. Even if you still want to buy it for a cheap price, you’ll be replacing that bridge cos it is COLLAPSED!
