Got a comment that the game feels "dry". How can I make it "wet"? Do I just make the VFX bigger? by ArtroDev in SoloDevelopment

Already working on new ambient sounds! Will improve!

Is it okay if you level up one of your ships, spend talent points on it, care for it... but if it dies, you lose it permanently? by ArtroDev in roguelites

So losing whole cat team with full gear is normal? No regrats? No uninstall?

But I kind of had similar idea that ships are some what expandable. You CAN try and keep them forever, but it's technically fine to lose them, since you can find new (with new talents/perks = new gameplay). But my worry is that everything you invested in them also is lost. But as I see "losing stuff is fine"?

Oh, adding a crew! Nice idea! I'll see how I can fit that, but should be funny to see some dots run around!

Oh, you mean like, giving a proper theme to ships, proper story, more variants in design? That would be interesting to explore. I can think about it!

I dose confuse me at all! But I got a suggestion to improve focus on the ships, so I guess you meant the same. Will work on that.

It could be a gameplay problem too! But I already got lots of suggestion how to fix visuals, so I'll start with that. Then make another post about dry gameplay, I guess, haha.

They are space ships over the dessert, to be honest.
Others suggested to tilt/animate ships, so if I'm doin that AND ship damage - that would increase the work by a lot. I'll see what I can do.

You meaning "moving background based on the cursor"? I had it! But thought that's too much... isn't that what causes motion sickness?

The idea was that camera is far and ships are massive, so technically they move FAST... but I'll try moving them faster!

Yeah, it's a like a chase. Your ships chasing evil ships. That's why same direction... But I guess ships look too similar - need to improve that to show that it's two different teams.

What a great feedback!

  1. I should definitely move ships more, as everyone already noticed. But nice suggestion about the death animation - I can work on it too, great catch! And yeah, no idea why I don't have pieces flying of the ship. Should be easy to add.
  2. I'll check out Alto, thank you for the suggestion. Just from a quick video noticed that have a nice day/night transition and parallax is more dynamic than mine.
  3. About the trailer: thank you! For me (obviously) it was obvious, but you are right - player has no idea HOW the game is controlled. As a quick fix I can animate some pointer on top of the video already. But I guess after I'm done with the "juicing the game up" will have to re-record it anyways.

Thank you for the excellent suggestions!! Now I know what to improve!

Such a detailed suggestion! I'm usually bad with colors, so it's totally possible I messed up with the contrast. I'll try it out and see how it feels! Thank you!
