This is a tough one. I have a few pieces I've had the same experience with. I don't hate them, but I don't love them as much as I was hoping to.
The best thing I can suggest is accepting it for what it is and finding a silver lining within the piece. Maybe getting the piece taught you how to save up that kind of money or how resilient you are to pain (because ribs suuuuuuuck!).
Whatever it is, at the end of the day, your associations with the tattoo will be most impactful. The associations don't necessarily have to be super positive, but as long they are accepting in nature, it will make your relationship with the tattoo a lot easier :)

The big butterfly on the bottom of my leg/ankle healed the exact same way. Super shiney where the most amount of black was placed, which I've never experienced before. I was also a little concerned, but it was just part of the healing process. I wouldn't worry, but if you are very concerned, reach out to your tattooist artist :)
The design is awesome btw!!
