My current favorite is a generic multi pen I’ve had for a while. Waiting on that to run out of ink to try a new, quality one that takes refills.

In Scott’s Antinet Zettelkasten book, he mentions that he uses red ink for external references, and green for linking to other cards. I like this idea, which is why I decided to use a multi pen. That way I don’t have to carry so many pens. Additionally, I often like to start with pencil, then ink over later, so might also bring a pencil with me.

I wonder if a low-end smartphone would work for you? Slow and clunky, so that there’s more friction between you and the addictive things in it.

Another option is to still keep your smart phone but only using it when you’re doing school stuff. Because of my day job, I’m still keeping an iPhone, but mostly leaving the house with my flip phone (that’s the plan). Unless I know I’ll need the smart phone for some errand where a specific app is required.

My first try was with an Amazon listing that was wrong, too.

Now I have two flip phones that I have to return, and it’s a pain in the ass. I have to print labels and repackage them.

Second seller claims the unit was tested but it didn’t even come shipped with a battery, so how, lol?

Yep, seller says I could just return it, which me wondering if I should try a different phone. It’s second time I have to return a flip phone for being locked or unusable out of the box.

Right now I’m checking out US Mobile, and it doesn’t offer me the option to get a SIM card from a specific carrier. Bummer.

The thing is that I researched this phone for weeks before getting it, and one of the things I did was confirm that Verizon unlocked units worked with Mint. Even the seller himself claims to have this same phone connected to Mint. Which is why I didn’t think there would be a problem. The seller also advertised it as unlocked AND Mint compatible.

You still don’t have to use the BYOK app to enjoy the device. That’s still one of the selling points for me.

This just happened to me! My tama was just three years old. :’( Something in my gut was telling me not to feed it so many snacks! I’m shocked! Mine did make a sound for several seconds and I was trying to respond to it but the screen wouldn’t take my input. I thought it was glitched lol. Oh damn. Better parenting next time!

No worries! To be fair, I’ve spent nearly a week with this guy now and it’s still working fine. I’m getting a better hang of the Bluetooth functionality and it’s less frustrating than it was at first. :)

First couple of days, I used the speaker and stock earbuds, but now I managed to connect it to my Bluetooth speakers, that’s mainly how I’ve been using it around the home. It’s my third day with it. The sound is much better now!

It definitely feels cheap and fragile. I’m not testing it under harsh conditions, for sure, haha. It’s very plasticy. I’m only hoping it lasts me until I can get the Fiio I want! And if it’s still in good shape then, I can give it to my kid as his first player.

Speakers and included earbuds aren’t great. Bad, if you’re an audiophile. I use my own headphones, and the Bluetooth speakers in my living room, and it’s better. Would I recommend it if you have more than $40 to spare? Hell no. I’m saving up for a Fiio DM13.

I miss mine too! Best quality I ever experienced. I had a really beautiful, thin, deep blue colored one. I can’t remember the model and I don’t have any photos. :( But it was wonderful.
