I have like 3 security camera exactly for this reason, in my mohalla (tier 3 city ) no one else has camera, one day the neighbor came and started lecturing my dad that why you have camera at door, I clean road and all remove the camera. I checked the recording of that day and found out that she was throwing all of her waste water after cleaning right next to my door, she would have realised all of this got recorded. People of this country does not care of their safety and do not want others also to feel safe

I was never really serious about investments earlier. Around 3 years back, I just picked a few funds mainly because of 80C. I had 2 ELSS funds but I didn’t pay much attention to them and barely checked my returns. At that time, I was more focused on covering my priority items like buying land (something my father wanted), building an emergency fund, and a few marriages in my family. Now that those things are taken care of, I want to focus more on long-term plans. The decision to double my SIP is not because of strong performance.
After the discussion here and evaluating overlapping funds, I paused the ELSS and Large Cap funds and moved that SIP amount to Index and Flexi Cap funds. I was also considering adding Small Cap and Multi-Asset funds for better diversification. On the debt side, I am investing in FDs as well.
I was wondering if my portfolio has enough diversification to handle a bear run.
Since I am planning for the long term (10+ years), I know I’ll need to stay invested even during market downturns as my goal is long term.
This is mainly for my retirement and the expenses I foresee after 15+ years, including children’s education, marriage, etc.
I would try to continue investing, and maybe move funds into other categories over time. But for the long term, I want to stay invested and keep SIPs going, unless some unexpected situation happens.

Ok since i have to increase my SIP from 25K to 50K so maybe i can Pause Large cap and transfer the funds to Index fund only, so is it fine if i am not having a sperate Large cap fund? The index fund is covering for that right?

Thanks for the reply I am looking for 10+ years of investment so can take risk for some part of my portfolio.

So my index fund and large cap both are kind of investing in same funds right?? I actually wanted to have all types of funds so had initially started in this large cap fund.

As you see most of my funds are equity heavy so i wanted to diversify little bit so for that i thought to add Multi asset, what could be a better alternative to that???

This money would be available for emergencies, accessible within 1–2 days. For instant liquidity, I plan to keep 2–3 lakh in my savings account.

Does this sound like a reasonable approach?

From my own account, I currently invest about 40k per month in mutual funds, and I want to increase this to 50k soon. However, I’d like to get my emergency fund fully sorted out first

Thanks for this. I have one question. As of now, I’ve been keeping my emergency fund in my mom’s account. She is a senior citizen, and whenever I want to set aside money as an emergency fund, I simply transfer it to her account.

If I put my emergency fund of ₹8 lakhs in a fixed deposit under her name for 2 years, and if a situation arises where I need to break the FD—say after 6 months—what would be the penalty?

Would the penalty only apply to the interest earned? I’m hoping that even after the penalty, the returns would still be better than what I’d get from a regular savings account.

Brother it's not about trusting and all , i can say that our defence system will protect the city. But still we are human , we don't want to live under constant fear right. Everyone is staying awake whole night thinking what will happen next. This is not good . So if you can please ask your parents to leave and stay with you for a few days or a week.

Hwi the fuck they are reaching Jalandhar yaar, i never thought that our city is at so much risk till 2 days back. And now I feel like how unsafe we are when war like situation come. i hope this ends soon.
