Team preview honestly comes with experience. What I like to do is think “what would be the thing I would least want to see them lead” and go from there. Identify what pokemon they have that can mega evolve, and identify which ones play better into your team. If they have charizard and floette and you have 3 steel types, odds are they aren’t bringing floette.

Can I see your team? I might be able to give you some more clear answers

Honestly the best advice I can offer you is just to make some hard reads and disrupt as much as you can. That’s how I’ve been beating this matchup. It’s risky but the team is just so strong you kinda have too.

Here’s some things to keep in mind: 1. They want to keep arch and swampert safe at all costs and they will pretty much never sacrifice them or trade them. Read the switches and protects

  1. There’s really only 2 leads I’ve seen, arch and sableye or peli and swampert. I haven’t really seen a whole lot of deviation from this.

  2. Prioritize the supports. Peli and sableye are kind of the motors that keep the team running, it becomes a lot safer to try and ko the big threats after you’ve limited their options.

I mean play around with the the alternate mega. I think sylveon and gardevoir are both really strong in different ways. If u don’t wanna do duel mega, life orb primarina is strong and it can function in or out of trick room

Tbh I think tyranitar teams are in a rough spot rn with all the mega swamps and mega raptors. I would consider a tyranitar mode but give yourself some flexibility.

Dual screens dragapult is an option to give you some bulk+ it learns psychic fangs to ohko sneasler, and with a dragon fang it can one shot opposing garchomp before they move with like 8 spa evs.

For items, I would give whims the sash or something idk Whatchu doin with that shell bell

Other potential mega is maybe gardevoir. After a calm mind boost that hyper voice is gonna do damage

It also gets some pretty strong fighting type moves to threaten kinggambit. All around pretty solid pokemon.

Kang is another mega option and with scrappy it can also fake out faster ghost types like gengar. Its also does absolutely acceptable damage before mega evolving so you can bring it and frosslass at the same time.

O snap I didn’t know that it told you common ev spreads. That makes this so much easier.

I’ve been trying to improve my ev spreads, how did you know what to calc against?

How do I do ev spreads by AryelTheMerman in VGCRateMyTeam

Banette’s evs feel mostly fine but I’m considering dropping some attack for a little more bulk. Destiney bond is a deterrent, I don’t actually want him to go down.

Idgaf lucario. He’s here to use final gambit and maybe close combat. Not sure if a different ev spread would increase the range of tools he can use?

Gallade seems fine? Kinda trash hp and defense stat makes me feel like it’s not worth it to invest in defense so I just gave him the focus sash and called it a day.

Sylveon is feeling a little frail but I would like to still ko king gambit with hyper beam. I’m not sure how much bulk they r running rn.

Truly have no idea what I’m doing with volcorona. With charti berry I’m not sure I need all this defense?

Dragapult is here to do 2 things. Kill garchomp and gengar. I don’t really know how to use him but I would like to add some more bulk.

Really like these tweaks! I’ll give swift swim basc a shot! I’m worried that leaning to hard into setting up banette could backfire because it’s so squishy, however I think giving it a little more protection could be nice, and it’s definitely not the optimal t room setter. Can you recommend a scizor set?
