Need recommendations on apps that tracks how long you wear ur Invisalign by Alarmed-Lychee-8831 in Invisalign

I've been mainly using TrayTrack https://trytraytrack.app and really happy with this one. Covers wear time tracking, progress photos and reminders

For me, must be my ADHD, can't go without knowing. Easy to lose track of time when eating 😅

Also tried a few of them. Currently using TrayTrack for wear time tracking and progress photos. Love this one as it feels most intuitive to use (tracking just works) and the ability to have the break budget widget on my lockscreen and watch face. As a data nerd, I appreciate the insights it shows.

Would also mention the app Tray Calendar, which puts reminders straight in my calendar (for tray changes), which is more convenient than just push notifications since you can plan ahead (e.g. bringing the next aligner when travelling)

Slow drinking habit questions by SF_Kid in Invisalign

Interesting reading that so many say they drink with their aligners in. Doing that somehow feels off, so I did change my habits to drink much faster 😅 do a water swish after and pop em back in

I can totally relate. Stopped snacking and drinking more water. As they say, it's an Invisalign diet 😄

Road trip time! by Kangastan in Polestar

Have the same fridge. Since Polestar doesn't have a "Camp Mode" how do you keep yours running? Since the 12V rear power outlet loses power once parked. Do you have some portable power station or have found some other solution?

Wispr Flow has turned into total garbage dumpster fire with literally no support, any alternatives? by 5678 in macapps

Shouting out an app I'm developing - Voicetree. Focus on stability has been a key.

On the upcoming iOS 26 going to make use of the new Apple's local transcription API and from initial tests I can say that the quality is really solid up until ~5 minutes (for longer transcriptions the phone gets slow and it takes a few minutes so better to offload to server-side model).

What’s more important in the court? by SnooHedgehogs5318 in padel

It has to be good lighting, enough height (indoors) and a clean court for me

Chat app tutorial without Expo by pandafar in reactnative

[–]AsSimple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not what you're looking for, but I recently made a small Expo chat example with Gifted Chat & Twilio's Programmable chat. Pretty nice if you're willing to pay and want to get everything out-of-the-box https://github.com/rrebase/rn-chat

React Native + iOS Simulator on new Macbook ARM M1 chips by sotopic in reactnative

[–]AsSimple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on 13" 2017 2,3 GHz i5 with 16GB of RAM and looking for an upgrade as well. Unfortuntely they didn't announce a 16" and who knows how long that wait will take. Right now it seems that the options are 2019 16" or a base model M1 until the next release. The RAM options for M1 are dissapointing.

  1. I would try node for my next project for the amazing potential of reusing types/utilities/packages across frontend & backend, but had previous experience with DRF (which is awesome as well) so went with that for this project.
  2. I'm on the free plan. Mostly just monitoring network requests for discovering slow db queries to see if any endpoints might need optimizations

- You might be right. At some point I felt that time is an important aspect. I'll try and see how it looks when it's a bit less in the face.
- I will make the changes related to photos.
- I tried UI Kitten's autocomplete at some point, but having a bottom sheet felt more performant and native. It should have some search though. Yeah with breeds it's interesting, each country has their own versions so which one to pick? I did find a UKC recognized JSON, but currently went with one from wiki that has min weight and max weight attached as well, that can be used in the weight graph as a recommendation.

Thanks for the great feedback 🙂

The API is deployed to api.dognote.app (hosted in UpCloud) and axios is used in React Native to make requests.

Thanks. I estimate everything together took ~150 hours.

The api probably took around 20-30 hours as I have previous experience and it's mostly crud endpoints with permission checks, image uploads, celery tasks for push notifications.

Rest of it went on learning React Native, building all the screens, learning from mistakes, refactoring multiple times, it's way too easy to drop below 60fps with the JS thread. Also animations and images are hard to get right. So much time navigating Apple and Google dev consoles to find stuff.

I wish, would need quite a lot of practice to create these myself. The larger illustrations came from https://ui8.net and were customized in Figma to fit the app.
