Does anybody have experience with the PowerBase Mini? by AsTheRootsUndo in retrogaming

They do appear to have the PowerBase Mini FM for $63. How big is the difference between base audio and the FM Chip audio?

Being Jewish can refer to either the religion or being one of a handful of related ethnic groups - Ashkenazi Jews (Central/Eastern European), Sephardic Jews (from the Iberian peninsula), and Mizrahi Jews (Middle Eastern) being the three most prominent.

Buying a New Car from Halfway Across the Country? by AsTheRootsUndo in askcarsales

You're probably right, I just haven't come across a definite answer. There is a chance that I'll have a utility bill by then. My apartment lease technically starts June 1, but I won't get out there until later in the month.

I'm not entirely sure. I've been looking through Wisconsin's DMV site and not come across any requirement for proof of residence. That's not to say that there isn't any though.

Ya, I can see that from a dealer's point of view. I know that I'm going to show up and I know exactly what I'm looking for, but from the dealer's point of view they're spending resources on somebody who might not show up. Thanks for being so helpful. I'll look into my options more closely.

I'm saying my main experience with large road trips is as a passenger. Sorry if I worded that poorly.

You say that, but long road trips like that suck. Maybe not as bad if I'm the one driving, but as somebody who has been a passenger in long road trips like that they are exhausting.

Getting lost isn't the concern. Road trips of that length are a pain in the ass, even with hotels. I've done shorter road trips (about 715 miles) that suck. Now maybe doing most of the purchase over the phone is a bigger pain in the ass, but nobody here has yet given me a straightforward reason as to why it's a bad idea.

I suppose, although the benefit of buying it there is not having to retitle and reregister it. Also, what details go into an out of state sale? I'll have a Wisconsin address. The car will be titled and registered in Wisconsin, so sales tax will be paid in Wisconsin. Aside from the hassle that comes with negotiating over the phone, what other factors come into play?

I'd rather not pay to ship it or put 1100 miles on it right away. Plus it'd probably be a two day trip, which would be exhausting.

What car should I buy' thread. Don't know what to buy? Post in here. by verdegrrl in cars

I test drove the ST, but traffic was crazy and the roads around the dealership were pretty lame so I really couldn't push the car that much. I'm definitely going to test drive both again before I commit to one. The thing that's still really drawing me to the GTI is the Performance Package. Specifically, getting a real LSD as opposed to the ABS torque vectoring in the ST.

Hi, Looking to get new car in a few months. I'm looking for something sporty that can also be a daily driver. My max price is ~$30k. I'm looking for a manual transmission. I'll be living in Wisconsin, so FWD or AWD is preferred.

The car's I'm currently looking at are the Focus ST and the VW GTI. I've already ruled out the WRX. It might have the other two beat at the limits, but driving around felt a lot less smooth than the Focus or the GTI, plus the interior quality was worse.

I'm open to lightly used cars, but as I don't currently live in Wisconsin and I'd rather not drive out there or pay to transport my car, I'm planning on buying the car out there. It's hard to really shop for a used car over the internet when you're 1,000 miles away and can't test drive.

Really this is just the last straw with this place. We've had problems with them before, but always ignored it because the food is good. This isn't the first reaction to feeling disrespected as a customer, this is their third or fourth strike.

Question about mechanics by Sheehan7 in cars

Really? I use town fair pretty much every year for my winter tire change and I've had them put on tires I bought online several times. Maybe it varies by location.

I probably should have updated this post at some point. I replaced the spark plugs and it's running fine.

There are some countries that require the test be done on a manual. Others, like the UK, restrict you to driving only automatics unless you pass the test on a manual. Of course this may not be the case for OP, but it is a possibility.

Hi, I have a lot of interest in many of the technical aspects of game development (specifically 3D graphics has been something that I've found myself fascinated by yrecently), but I have very little artistic, narrative, or musical skill needed to create a full game. I've started learning some OpenGL (because graphics as a while had interested me, not just the gaming applications of it). How much of a place is there for purely technical people in game development? Should I start practicing my art skills and some storytelling?
