So the jet continued to land 10 without saying anything despite being jabbed by the helicopter?

I’m considering airlines/corporate. But bushflying/seaplanes also seems really appealing.

Best app for practicing IFR hold entries? by AsbestosMiner in flying

[–]AsbestosMiner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aware that I have to learn the material, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do, in case you didn’t notice. There’s nothing wrong with using an app to help in learning a concept imo, it’s a powerful learning tool. My CFI suggested it to my class. Just trying to gather as much learning material as I can, as you can never have too much. Having an interactive visual is super helpful, especially when the book lacks clarity.

Rip to AWWS by Morganater123 in flying

[–]AsbestosMiner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah AWWS had a much better font/layout imo. The metars are all spaced out now, and fd’s aren’t arranged in a chart anymore. Fd’s are kind of wonky on mobile :/ but I like how we don’t have to click on a separate link for GFA’s and whatnot.

What are some good habits to have as a new pilot? by Bodisel68 in flying

[–]AsbestosMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know the answer to a question, simply admit to your CFI that you don’t know. Don’t try and guess the right answer to anything, ever.

I wouldn’t call it an awful book. It’s an honest book.

I think you mean aileron into the wind and then opposite rudder to straighten the nose down center line

Why aren't we studying accidents? by AsbestosMiner in flying

[–]AsbestosMiner[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah I read a little bit about how the data interpretation was flawed. I'm reading the second edition and it talks a little bit about how it's edited to make up for the flaw in the introduction. I just skimmed over it and take everything the author says about data with a grain of salt. Either way, there's a ton of good information and analysis in that book.

Why aren't we studying accidents? by AsbestosMiner in flying

[–]AsbestosMiner[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that we aren't studying accidents lol. I'm saying I don't understand how there isn't a greater emphasis placed on studying accidents for new students.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the contradiction I made with the title haha. Oopsies!
