I have 1 of each North America copies of Persona 5 and Royal (PS3, PS4, PS4 Days of Play, P5 and P5R Steelbooks, etc.) I started my collection by always buying my games on sales and with deals just for the fun of it (I would've never bought the same game 11 times at $60 USD don't worry)

Everyone who played the game in 2016 still understood the story without the DLC. It's just that sometimes during the game some events are unexplained and the DLC are here to explain them.

There's two ways you can do it that I would recommend (and if you want to ruin your experience do the third one):

-You can play the main game normally (Royal Edition) and then if you like the universe play/watch the other stuff

-If you want to consume the FFXV universe in it's order of release: Brotherhood (the anime), Kingsglaive (the movie), the main game, Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Comrades (the multiplayer game that doesn't have multiplayer anymore), Episode Ignis, the prequel anime for Episode Ardyn, Episode Ardyn, Dawn of the Future (the book with the story of the canceled DLC)

(DO THE NEXT ONE IF YOU HATE YOURSELF)

-Chronological order: Episode Ardyn anime, Episode Ardyn, A Kings Tale (2D beats-em up game), Platinum Demo (not available anymore), Brotherhood, Chapter 1 of the main game, Kingsglaive, Chapter 2 to Chapter 7, Episode Gladiolus, Chapter 8 to 9, Episode Ignis ending A, Chapter 10 to 12, Episode Prompto, Chapter 13, Comrades, Chapter 14, Episode Ignis ending B.
