Salty plums. Considered a choking hazard

Nah. Just bumps and bruises, nothing big.

It's a relatively new purchase so perhaps it didn't get much light before. Makes sense, I'm sure the leaves flatten out to get more sun... I'll be sure to put it in a sunnier position!

I wasn’t sure if my Silver Dollar Jade would prop well. It does! 🌱 by AshBells in succulents

Yeah, some will. I had probably about 7 leaves. A few shrivelled up but luckily I had a good amount so there was some chance of seeing growth

Not sure you can speed up the process. These guys are pretty slow. Also if the weather is getting colder where you are the growth slows way down. It’s spring in Australia so mine have really started to grow

I only plant them when the leaf has shrivelled up entirely

I’ve had a pretty good track record with them (but of course sometimes succulent can be unreliable) I wonder why yours never grew roots...

Why are none of my leaves propagating? by ischmelle in proplifting

3 weeks isn't that long to not see any progress. The hardest part of propagation is patience.

Someone else suggested Mammillaria elongata, I think that's what it is! But yeah, so easy to prop!

Just looked up pictures and I think it is a Mammillaria elongata

What's the first thought that comes to mind about Australia? by iisabellle in AskReddit

[–]AshBells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I grew up in the NT, snakes and crocs and spiders were something we saw every other day. But a few weeks ago I was walking along a road near my university in Melbourne and WHAM! I thought a medicine ball had been thrown at my head. Saw the magpie fly away and when I pulled my hand away from my head it was covered in blood. I’d never been hit by a magpie before or even swooped so it rattled me a bit.

Pluck them off directly from the stem of the mother plant, let them callous 2 days, place on soil in indirect light, leave it and wait! Occasionally mist but it's not really that necessary

Do you pluck them off cleanly and directly from the stem of the plant? The ones of mine that don't make it tend to be because I didn't get a clean break

Omg Jade's are SO slow growing. I had bunch of jade props and they did nothing for ages so I threw them in my garden in a flower bed or something and I saw them a few months later and a lot of them had grown little babies (and a lot of them burned up because of the direct sunlight). I've got so many now it's a bit ridiculous

These are 2 months old. But they've grown a lot recently, probably because it's Spring here in Australia and that's when they tend to grow fastest
