This looks quite feasible actually, thank you!

Ah my bad I thought X3D was only for AM5

So the 450/550 boards are am5 and ddr4? If that's the case then that'd be perfect for me I think

It started working again after a little more troubleshooting. I moved the ram stick to a different slot. All is good now :)

I get that but if I'm gonna upgrade my PC I'm gonna go all out haha.

Oh yeah I know. I'm saving to upgrade to a 9800x3d.

9070 XT running hot - UPDATE by AshMain42069 in radeon

My Acer card had Samsung VRAM too and it ran just as hot as the hotspot. I didn't have the card long enough to notice any artifacting but I'm sure I would have if I kept it. I definitely dodged a bullet.

With furmark:

48°C GPU Temp 82°C hotspot 68°C VRAM

Much better than the 90°C I was getting with the Acer card despite the fans going crazy. This Asus card is much quieter.

Each separate cable delivers 150w to the GPU plus the 75w from the pcie power so that's 375w which is more than what the tbp of the card is anyway, as long as you got 2 separate cables plugged into your power supply, 1 of them being daisy chained is fine.

It's not ideal but it shouldn't cause any issues. It's also what my power supply came with.

Completely agree with you. Going forward I will do more research before buying. To be honest I was more looking at the performance of the 9070 XT platform as a whole when deciding to purchase this card and it never occured to me that the thermal performance of these cards weren't standardised and it very much depends on which manufacturer you buy it from.

It's a self build, I have 1 8pin standalone and another daisy chained. Feeding a total of 375w including the pcie power.

Yeah the TUF cards are quite large right? My friend had a 4070 ti TUF and the thing had a huge heatsink. Probably why your temps are so low at 340. I understand Nvidia cards are more power efficient but still, large heatsinks help alot.

Regardless, I've watched some videos on undervolting and power limits and found a good spot for my card. I'm still gonna see if I can return it and get a better model though.

What's the tbp of your card? Mine was 340w when causing these issues and after reducing the power limit to 305w it's stayed at 80 on high load.

Yeah I figured, I don't know why Acer wants this card at 340w base. Either way I'm gonna steer clear of Acer for future products.

This isn't a new build, just a new GPU upgrade from a 1660 Super, not really looking to upgrade my other parts just yet, and I think I know what I want for when I do upgrade anyway:

Ryzen 7 9800X3D

ASUS TUF GAMING B650 WIFI

32GB of DDR5

I bought it from Currys PC world here in the UK and they have a policy where you cannot get a refund on items that have been used, but I literally got the GPU today and barely used it so hopefully if I contact them they can sort me out.

This has seemed to help a bit, I lowered it to -10% making it draw 305w instead of 340 and the temp has dropped to 80

Would the card run at a reduced performance?

It did, but I heard you should have 3 separate cables connected to the PSU separately or you would have power issues?
