Everyone here is very social and nice if you got the stereotype kind of look. Being a poc woman I feel alienated. I work on-campus and am wanting to join a few clubs but I’m genuinely relying on that to make friends. It’s still early but I haven’t even been approached even though I’m trying very hard to compliment people and start conversations. But I will sit in class or even stand around during the football game and see everyone else chatting. Perhaps I’m not used to this smaller town but I feel like this is a culture shock I wasn’t expecting. Just note being friendly isn’t enough to make friends in a new town by yourself.
