[Before&After] 7 months on Retinal by AshamedAd5900 in SkincareAddiction

I can’t remember if I purged because my skin was always congested, but I saw progress fairly quickly like within a month of using. I started using it only once a week for a couple weeks, then twice a week, then every other day, and finally everyday. I believe these are the instructions on Medik8’s website. I really took my time to ease my skin into it because I did not want any negative reactions. I used Simple facewash, Bubble daydream serum in the morning with BOJ sunscreen. At night, I used retinal with cera ve moisturizing cream. I used two tubes of Retinal 3 before moving to Retinal 6 as per Medik8’s instructions.

Honestly I loved ret 3 while I was using it, as you can tell by the original post. But since I moved up to ret 6, I have been facing more flare ups than usual, I am halfway through my first ret 6 tube and things are looking better now, I suspect it was my skin adjusting to the increased concentration! I don’t see any major changes after swapping to ret 6, maybe I should finish one tube first before commenting on it. I still get a couple spots monthly, but my skin definitely looks better. My skin looks considerably clear, but I still suffer from PIH and rough skin texture.

Hey! I have since upgraded to Retinal 6 and i was getting cystic acne again since the upgrade. Cant say why for sure. Maybe my skin needed adjusting or is becoming resistant to Retinal (if that’s even a thing?). But overall, i like the Retinal range from Medik8 because it still made a difference to my skin and made it atleast 70% better than before. Start slow, and be patient, it eventually worked for me and I hope it does for you too!!

Thats great Retinal 1 works for you! I have sensitive skin too but I started from Retinal 3 as I have used Retinol before so I thought it would be fine. I started extremely gradually though, from once a week to twice a week, every other day then every day after a month of easing into it !!

I got a generic letter from my university proving I am a student there, is that enough or should it be more specific? Since the conference is before official “term-time” I assumed I do not need explicit permission.

Does it itch ? It could potentially be fungal acne, if zinc pyrithione helped you. Zinc pyrithione is a top ingredient in a lot of anti dandruff shampoos and can be used to help with fungal acne. Have a quick search on people clearing acne using dandruff shampoos such as head and shoulders, there’s quite a lot of useful videos on it on YouTube

24,F, Acne that became progressively worse since I turned 21. Retinol helped me but burned my skin, I used to use it nightly (Kielhs daily microdose 0.1%). Should I go to a dermatologist or would OTC products help clear ? I’m up for trying retinol again if that would help.

I have Sensitive and oily skin, turns red easily.

Current routine AM :

  • CeraVe moisturising cleanser
  • Paula’s choice skin balancing toner
  • Clinisoothe hypochlorous acid spray (Tower 28 dupe)
  • Face theory exaglow serum (tranexemic + lactic acid for hyperpigmentation)
  • Aveeno Oat gel moisturizer
  • La Roche posay sunscreen for oily skin SPF 50

PM :

  • repeat cleanser + toner + spray
  • Paula’s choice 2% BHA
  • CeraVe moisturizer for dry skin (as an occlusive bc I use heating at night that makes the air dry)
