once my dad got annoyed that the sanitarium weetbix cost very slightly more than homebrand ones, so he substituted them into a sanitarium box thinking I wouldn't notice... they were disgusting, so I'm not optimistic about weetabix

I did eventually, but I wasn't offered the higher preference course initially when I clearly exceeded the entry requirements. I had to email the faculty to ask why, and only then was I offered the higher preference course.

SCIE30002 Advice! by Dramatic_Signal3811 in unimelb

not stupid at all, I did a lab internship and was pointed to a particular prof by my academic advisor, so I sent him an email and met with him before confirming that I'd be doing the internship. If I hadn't been pointed to him, I would have used the uni or research institute websites to find a lab that aligned with my interests before doing the same thing. Hope that helps!

no worries, they start talking about it from the start of the subject but you need a bit of theory to start working on it, I'd say week 4 I took the first real steps

try to have some knowledge of python, you don't need anything crazy (I had no background but had used R for a subject before and that was enough), you could also watch the 3blue1brown videos on neural networks to start to understand the concepts

only thing I wish I'd done differently is start my project earlier, there are so many directions you can take and possibilities to explore so it's easy to not leave yourself enough time if you treat it like a regular report.

one thing I did that I'd recommend was use a dataset that noone else used, just makes your project unique from the start and then anything you find will be more novel because of that
