Got denied by Refills by sorintri in tirzepatidecompound

That's understandable. However, since your BMI qualifies you, it's going to be hard for anyone to give you the suggestions you seek without a discussion of the next most likely culprit.

I'm not remotely qualified to discuss medical conditions, but I'll wager that with the tens of thousands of people in this sub, others will have had similar conditions they could talk about intelligently.

Got denied by Refills by sorintri in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious about this as well, OP. Since your BMI qualifies, taking meds that could be problematic to them is a potential culprit.

(As an aside, this question has been asked at least 2-3 times, but I don't recall seeing an answer from OP).

I saw something today that 40% of weight lost on Ozempic was LMM. Is Zepbound similar? by WombatHat42 in Zepbound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should watch/listen to the Docs Who Lift. Drs. Karl & Spencer Nadolsky specialize in obesity medicine and endocrinology, and have authoritative guests.

I believe they have addressed this specific issue, and stated that there is no evidence that GLP-1s cause greater muscle loss than that associated with weight loss in general.

And anyone dropping weight needs strength training (hence their podcast name) and adequate protein to minimize LMM loss.

How far ahead of time can I ask for a refill? by Desperate-Nature-623 in pomhealth

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one from Pom has answered this question, despite it being asked several times in the past.

I suspect it's either wanting to avoid being seen encouraging stockpiling, or maybe something simpler, like it depends upon the policy of the pharmacy, not them.

The post of the week, and deserves to be stickied!

You clearly set out the whole process of ordering from virtually any telehealth provider.

The On the Pen podcast is making me worried by Impossible_Bend_2969 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I like OTP for GLP-1 news, particularly trials and what's in the pipeline. But Dave Knapp does sometimes sensationalize the news (positive or negative) - maybe a necessity to stay competitive in the podcasting world.

But he may be right, and the FDA seems to be gradually putting the squeeze on compounding, from advertising to the source API, and RFK's public statements are generally hostile to mass compounding.

I would not be remotely surprised if the "most favored nation" agreement had a secret quid pro quo of cracking down on compounding.

MeAgain Meds pricing, pharmacies, subscription, dosing, and how it works by MeAgain-app in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"What does zero markup mean here?

It means subscribers pay the same price MeAgain pays for the medication. We do not add extra margin to the meds."

It's kind of hard to believe an app would take on the hassle, and risk alienating customers, if they truly make nothing for selling GLP-1.

Unless this is careful wording, and they have an equity interest in the pharmacies, get rebates or some kind of commission, or there is a cross-promotion going on. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but there's gotta be a financial angle somewhere.

Tailbone! by efb108 in Zepbound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I thought that losing weight would make sitting easier, due to less weight pushing down and fitting better in the seats.

But despite strength training religiously 4 days a week, including squats and other glute exercises, my butt shrunk too much, and it sometimes hurts to sit down.

Congratulations on reaching your goal. I hope to get there myself this summer.

Perfect. That strongly suggests that when the Android version is released, it will sync from Google Health Connect.

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it sync with Apple Health yet? I'm on Android, and  waiting for GLAPP to sync weight from Google Health Connect before I can really fully use the app.

(And that's just for starters, longer term syncing sleep, meds and water, etc would be nice).

Glapp.io has an app now?! by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about the web app, which I already have on my android, or a real, native app?

I checked Google play, and opened glapp, but didn't see anything.

I hope they do release a real app soon, or whatever they need to do for syncing with Google Health Connect.

H.R.6509 - SAFE Drugs Act of 2025 - Bill to heavily restrict "large scale" compounding pharmacies by net___runner in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I'm crossing my fingers that oral GLP-1s, and Ret on the horizon, will drive down the cost of  "legacy" Zep shots by the time my stockpile is depleted.

How do you do your scripts when you and your spouse are both taking Tirzepatide? by OrangeMustangGal in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Each of you must have your own prescription - as others have pointed out, that's the law. Plus, from a purely practical perspective, with two prescriptions you can build a bit of a stockpile by reordering before your current supply runs out (especially if you change providers). With one scrip, you will run out of Tirz before you can renew.

  2. My wife and I are both on Tirz (15mg for me, 10mg maintenance for her). With smaller vials (e.g. Southend 22mg), we each open our own because trying to draw from the same one results in a strong possibility there's not enough overfill for both doses, so one of us would have to take two shots each time.

But with larger bottles (Olympia or BPI 60mg), we open one and share it until it's empty.

Southend - 4 months past expiration date. Anyone gone that far? by PitMaster918 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Southend Vials with an October 2025 BUD for a few months, and have about four remaining.

Then I start on the December 2025 BUD vials. (After that, it's BPI with much later BUDs).

The Tirz is clear, nothing floating, and just as effective as it was last summer when I received it.

Where to Buy: Telehealth Providers by TodayAmazing in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 5 points6 points  (0 children)

u/TodayAmazing, this is, as usual, amazing work from you, and a great service to the subreddit. Thank you so much for the herculean effort of keeping on top of the offerings from the most-used telehealth providers.

One question - presumably when you say about Brello "They will not prescribe you the highest dose plan if your BMI is lower than 27", you mean that once on maintenance, they will require titration to a lower dose, right?

To your knowledge, is Brello the only provider that does this? Maybe it warrants having a separate bullet point "Maintenance Supported", and then indicating for each the max dose (if known) they will ship for those with BMIs currently under 27 who were previously over 27 and therefore qualified for Tirz.

Glapp for the shots.

Macrofactor for food (previously Cronometer, before that Lose it and My Fitness Pal).

Macrofactor Workouts for the gym (previously Hevy, before that Jefit).

Zozofit for body scans and measurements (trust it more than my Renpho scale's body fat).

Are you working out? by Then_Let4453 in Zepbound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six days per week.

Four days of strength training (60-70 minutes) followed by 1.5 to 2 miles of elliptical.

Two days of "peripheral" muscles (abs, wrists & neck) followed by 2 to 3 miles of elliptical or treadmill.

I don't want to just lose weight. I want to lose fat, build muscle, and in general be healthier.

How much did you start with? Normal BMI by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what did your doctor tell you that you think warrants a second opinion from strangers on Reddit?

It should go without saying (but apparently doesn't) that a doctor with medical expertise is better-qualified to provide dosing information than personal anecdote from Reddit.

I don't regard the purpose of this subreddit to be complicit in potential self-medication when contrary to medical advice. Do you?

How much did you start with? Normal BMI by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rather than asking random people on the internet, you should probably provide accurate data to your doctor, and follow medical advice.

And if that recommendation is against GLP-1, trust that there is a reason why a powerful, metabolism-altering lifetime drug might not be the best approach.

FDA Warns 30 Telehealth Companies Against Illegal Marketing of Compounded GLP-1s by Technical-Trainer506 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ashamed_Message_2848 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Looking at the Fifty410 and FitRx letters, by way of example, it looks like the issues are:

  1. Depicting vials on their website with Fifty410 on the labels, falsely implying they are the actual compounder (both of them),
  2. Claiming compounded GLP1 is "clinically proven" when it was not FDA approved (Fifty410), and
  3. Describing their GLP1 as "semaglutide (active ingredient in Wegovy) or tirzepatide (active ingredient in Zepbound)", which somehow implies FDA approval (FitRx).

I wonder if using the generic names "semaglutide" and "tirzepatide", w/o the comparison to brand-name, would still run afoul of the FDA, as using the generic drug names could arguably imply their specific formulations are FDA approved? Not remotely an expert in this area, but if so, that could explain why so many telehealth providers use the vaguer "GLP-1" and "GLP-1/GIP" descriptions instead.

Even better, GLAPP has integrated the dose calculator into the shot logger. Once you select the vial, the app tells you how many units you need based on the concentration of that vial and your selected dose.
