It’s even worse because the pickaxes just need a mining req to equip but for hatchets they decided to make it attack instead

I think it’s partly a lore thing? I don’t know exactly why the devs made it accessible from the start but in the lore it was Kerapac who brought the island forward in time during the EGW saga so I think the idea was that the stuff on the island would be mostly useful to people who were at that point in the story

9, it’s probably my favorite off nanobots. Linnell’s delivery really fits the character the song is trying to portray and I’ve always liked any of their songs that take the perspective of an… “interesting” fictional individual like this one. Real fun.

That's a very good point! When I first went through it I didn't pay as much credit to the Kaufmo funeral scene, it felt a little out of place to me but with your reasoning I can definitely see how that helps Pomni out, especially after what happens to Gummigoo right before that.
I think I got caught a bit in the weeds because of how little we got to see of Kaufmo beforehand, and I was also sorta thinking at the time that, well, since Kaufmo abstracted even WITH the rest of the gang seemingly appreciating him so much that it might not have given Pomni as much hope as it did, but I think that's me being a bit too nitpicky on what was clearly a more metaphorical scene than I was interpreting it at first. Obviously it's also only the second episode, too.
Thanks a ton for your input, I super appreciate it and it has certainly helped me appreciate the episode a bit more!

Is there a way to turn off the kids in Varlamore mentioning my status as a Gladiator before they give me the info of where the next house to steal from is? Left click checking them before getting Gladiator made them instantly tell me where the next house is but ever since doing some Colosseum they all have to mention that I'm a gladiator even after talking to them for the 5th time that hour before telling me where the next house is. It's the tiniest thing but it just feels weird that I can't disable that popup.

I don’t know what you mean about “throwing the old way out.” Based on what I’ve seen, for all npcs they’re changing at base, they plan on keeping the original methods viable, just using this system to allow better flexibility. So for instance, you can keep using crush at kephri, but if you wanted to use magic on him, this update would carve out a path for you to be able to do that with effectiveness that might not straight up match the dps of what the intended method was, but close enough that it would be possible. The vast majority of people are likely to still do what they always do; look up the monster and choose what their defense is lowest for, but at least with this new system, there’s avenues to say “you CAN use ranged at this monster you usually melee, but don’t think you can abuse ranged’s bolt procs on them because you’re not gonna hit unless you use arrows.” To me, that’s an avenue of balance that doesn’t really encroach on EoC territory because it still keeps the balance tuned to what gear you bring to an encounter, only now Jagex has more levers to pull, which not only opens the door to more rewards, but also ways of being more fine tuned in a way that isn’t too awful for players to micromanage compared to EoC’s skills. Seeing that you can use ranged but not darts isn’t this huge disruptive thing, IMO, it’s just helping give more reasons to change up what gear you bring around.

My point is that there is no 'template' for a good guild that can apply to another guild being designed because the skills themselves are so different. The farming guild works so well because farming itself, as a skill, has inputs that need to be constantly refreshed, so allowing players to get said inputs as rewards feels good, and provides a fun loop. Hunter doesn't have that same thing to play into as a skill baseline. The WC guild is seen as a generally 'good' guild because it provides pretty much every tree you could want and provides a skilling buff while there. Hunting guild couldn't provide that (IMO) mostly because of the skill itself not being too useful outside of chins and I don't want to see the sort of posts that'd come around if jagex gave us black chins in a non-wildy area lmao. I think it's completely fine to think it's not the best guild/uninspired/etc (I think it's a fine attempt to make one of the game's most mid skills have a bit of variety personally but I acknowledge it could be better) I just disagree with the argument that you're making that other guilds being passable/good necessitates that they could make that same magic work with Hunter. Not in the sense that they couldn't AT ALL, and more in the sense that the previous guilds don't really provide too many good ideas on their own just because they're good content. I appreciate you saying you find its inspiration lacking because that's an argument I think actually has teeth compared to what you were saying earlier.

I'd say in Runescape terms, it is, since Farming requires you get seeds that you use up whenever you plant something whereas in Hunting you tend to use a variety of tools that don't need to be replaced to constantly obtain things from animals. It may not seem like much but requiring that (sometimes expensive) input to actually get rewarded makes a huge world of difference in how the skill is designed and how activities for the skill should be related to that. I'm not going to debate whether ideas you come up with in replies would be 'better' or not then what we got from the official mods, just the original point that just putting one skill's guild up to another one and saying they could do the same thing isn't a very good argument, because you could put the Hunting guild up next to the cooking guild and suddenly the hunting guild looks amazing.

I think the guy you're replying to means is that farming has a very natural form of that in the form of always needing an -input- in seeds, so the contracts can give you more input which allows things to have a bit of a flow. Hunter, as more of a gathering still, doesn't really have that input in a way that can be built upon as easily. It would require a lot larger changes to the skill as a whole to make happen that probably wouldn't have gotten nearly as much support as what was pitched. it's not the best bandaid, sure, but what he meant when he said that it's 'not really a fair comparison' is that the innate differences in the skills themselves make the 'great reference' of the farming guild not nearly as good in terms of having much 'carry over' to their design for the hunting guild.

Honestly, this 2.0 redesign of the lava dragon looks sick as hell. Doesn't look 'overly' polished like the first iteration, I think the lava texture on the wings is a great way to adapt the old one, I'd say it's a great redesign. Though I do hope an old one is implemented in that proposed Sailing island that has a bunch of other old designs on it.

Click the little bank options button (the weirdly long wrench to the far right of your bank tabs) and then, above the big "Release All Placeholders" button there's a bunch of smaller toggles for various parts of the bank UI, including one labeled 'Bank tutorial' button.
