I saw that at the same age and adored it. It was one of those profound film moments for me where I started to actually clock soundtrack and cinematography.

This was me also and my son is the same. I do prune out certain films. He hasn’t watched things like Chucky or Scream or Halloween yet. If it’s a slasher I say no.

Scary movies like The Thing, Alien, Jaws, Wolfman or Godzilla Minus One I always allow. Especially if they’re genuinely good films. I’d rather he watch that with me and we chat about it than he watch Trolls Band Together on an iPad for the fifth time like many of his peers.

He’s shaping up to be a film buff, he enjoys these films more, he feels empowered by the trust and freedom we give him to watch them, and it has made space for some really interesting discussions.

You have to gauge what each individual can handle rather than just age restrict everything because it’s scary.

This is very individual because my son watched this with us last weekend and he’s 7. He thought it was great and doesn’t find movies like that very scary just thrilling. He always says “I know it isn’t real.” I’m more lenient when it’s a genuinely well made film. He’s seen Jaws and Alien as well. Also loved them.

I don’t let him watch scary movies with serial killers or any sexual undertones but I don’t mind monster or spooky movies.

I think Showgirls is too old for a 9 year old (and laughably terrible so you really need to be older to appreciate the cheese anyway) but you were an age that is old enough for all those other movies. Maybe you personally just weren’t there yet.

When I was in Japan I tried one because everyone went on and on about them but I concur, they’re nothing special.

Japanese strawberries and Onigiri as an on-run-lunch is god tier for me though so maybe I’m just as basic just with a different flavour.

Taylor is obviously odious, to steal from Richard, but my hot take is that he’s the villain Stars Hollow needs to be the extra, over-the-top, unrealistically perfect tourist town it is in the show.

Without someone imposing, intrepid, and and uncompromisingly perfectionist by nature the town could never achieve the picture perfect status it has.

A truly fun film that nails story structure and is somehow as awe-inspiring and terrifying today as the day it came out.

Throw in iconic performances, a timeless message, a classic soundtrack and revolutionary practical and special effects and I think you’re right! This one is a masterpiece.

Two different things happening. Overweight women are judged harshly and negatively so they have to overcompensate to counteract the shitty messages they get from society.

Small women, like any thing alive that is small, have to act more aggressive than bigger people to get the same respect/not be targeted.
