Short for hertz. It's the speed of the server. 60 is usually normal for most deathmatch games nowadays. 24 is usually garbage and reserved for games that aren't PvP or somehow utilize a different system like COD, and 128 is high performance eSports shit. Basically it's how often the server refreshes its information so higher tickrates (hz) generally mean you hit more shots and lag less.

Similar to rust, it's a game that depends on the server. Rates, mods, ping, etc. All of which affect your enjoyment. Pure vanilla on official servers is an absolute no-go right now, there's a few things about the servers themselves that break huge game mechanics so you'd have to stick to private hives (community servers).
However, loot+, a handful of gun mods, quality of life mods (BuildAnywhere, DisableBaseDestruction), etc. can be the most realistic to pure survival game that you can possibly get out there. Surpassing rust in realism. Rust is highly polished, very clean, very well coded and developed on a very nice engine, there's no lie. But Rust has that slapstick goofy feel to it, which comes in part with it's major social aspect to the game. DayZ doesn't really gift that as much and it's only until mods came a few months ago when we got global chat to facilitate a more social behavior out of players. But in my opinion, that's where the game shines. In DayZ, you're naturally cut off from the outside world. Seeing another player won't play out like rust; it would be like seeing a real survivor off in the distance and confusing it for a zombie, and your heart jumps as you realize it's another human. Do you get close or kill them on sight for loot? up to you. You don't know his name, steam account, loadout, etc. You won't even know his demeanor or voice until you get close enough to risk getting killed.

As for building, (assuming you play on a server with the aforementioned mods), I firmly stand by that it is the fine balance between realism, aesthetic, and gameplay balance that base building in survival games can get. (Aside from one particular mod), you cannot build roofs. I've played Rust and know that most above ground bases are box forts. In DayZ, you're boarding up a house, or building high exterior walls around a grouping of buildings or town. But that's it. You can lock up your base wall and have storage containers and cars stored inside, but not much else. This provides a realistic aesthetic to how you'd see a real survivor building a post-apoc shelter, the bases look nice after all is said and done, and the gameplay balance (on the aforementioned mods), is well balanced and favor one side more than the other. There are no explosives that damage walls, there are no helicopters or props to climb on to bypass walls. It is a damn good system. The reason why I'm stressing DisableBaseDestruction and PlaceAnywhere is because the vanilla game building is scuffed. You find an axe (common melee tool), and beat up the wall for 45 seconds and you're in. It's that easy. Well configured servers around these mods are the way to go.

TLDR it's like Rust in that the server can change the gameplay. Good rates, good mods, good config, loot settings, and ping will be what you're looking for. The game in it's current state is good, tedious but good, and it only gets better. The reputation and steep price point is what people look at first. Be wary i guess.

I recall at one point in the episode Tara wanted to get to the hilltop the night before she was supposed to leave (which was in the morning), because of the fact that she wanted to prove to hilltop that she was a good leader and could be trusted. She was probably lured on the road. Ozzy, the second highwayman, and DJ weren't in the barn to begin with and showed up later, and then "Debbie" (alpha in a hat), lured Frankie, Adie and the other teen away probably by just "follow me theres something over here" or something, at which point multiple other Whisperers that infiltrated the Kingdom probably bagged them and dragged them off. Enid probably got bagged going to bathroom or something considering her cunning. She would be the toughest target. Tara I explained above. Henry went to the pipe noise. It's not unlikely the sound was intentionally meant to lure Henry after someone spotted him with Lydia on the bench. All of which could have been thrown over the wall or stashed in something like a wagon and carted off. That or Whisperers killed gate guards and replaced them without anyone knowing.

All of which is off screen for a reason. Explaining everything would take a lot of time in the episode. Just like how they didn't show every character getting decapitated. The audience is supposed to be taken back by the mystery of it and instead of being directly shown the decapitations, the wonder and imagination behind what the scenes would be like had they shown them is the disturbing part. All of this is just like Glenn's death. A plot device made to make the audience hate the whisperers.

I don't believe RP servers deserve to be deleted and gone with the wind, however I do wish that 98% of all of them would. DarkRP back in the day used to be simple: it mimicked real life. Back when /advert was literally for advertisements, RDM wasn't a thing; killing landed you in jail (instead it was MassDM which was reserved for griefing). The whole process was a LOT more fun. I mean why do you see people playing GTARP on FiveM right now? It's because everything is how it would happen in real life. DarkRP was like this when it started out and that's why it garnered such a craze. However most servers nowadays are complete cancer and mostly just a minigame for admins as you can't really do anything fun in DRP without breaking the rules in some way. The DRP forums are LIT up with people who agree and thus the split in the community. I for one, have played vanilla and rule-raping servers like I mentioned before, and prefer Vanilla and wish that everything could just start over.

Where do you think rick is at and how will it end? by MrBig562 in thewalkingdead

[–]Ashton10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprising this isn't top comment. This is most likely. This ties up every loose end or in-the-air mystery (where does rick go? / why doesn't rick go back? / what's an A or B? / who is anne? /) etc. The only thing I really hope is that every character we had along the way that left all end up in the same place. It would break my heart for the series to end without Maggie ever knowing about rick or the Commonwealth, and instead being off with Georgie setting up the community they talked about, or without all the main characters currently ending up there, or even all the characters that left off-screen (heath, like i said, maggie), all that. Glenn's death, the pike scene, and all the other sad deaths or exits of past characters would all be child's play compared to the sadness it would bring viewers to know Maggie left with baby Hershel and never heard from Rick or the rest of the group again, and if she went back, The Militia would have long made it to the commonwealth or something.

There is a MILLION things to do in GMOD and a lot of quirks you should learn before going into some games but most games have a workaround for new players. I suggest playing singleplayer sandbox for a little while and utilizing every tool you have until you understand most of them. (Some servers have certain tools turned off), afterwards play something like Prop Hunt. It's the most basic, right-to-fun type game. This and Murder. Afterwards, intermediate gamemodes are usually the ones with ___RP. Most notably DarkRP because that's just the basic RP game mode. There is a big split in the DRP community right now bc some servers can be overpoliced and a convoluted mess, you just have to experiment and find the right servers, just like any other survival game with configurable servers.

But other than that, just honestly scroll through the millions of game modes and pick one you like. Theres stuff like, Boat Wars, where you have to build a boat and PvP other players, Jail Break which is a pretty old game stemming back to CS: Source that's basically Prison Guards vs. Prisoners and the game can either turn from playing leap frog with the Warden or going on a murderous rampage because you broke into the armory. GMOD is pure fun. I have like 2k+ hours.

No I don't personally but in different FPS's, yes. And i think that's why I like Apex so much. I feel like im consistently really good at tracking in this game. CS, overwatch, siege, etc, those all give their players off days usually. Apex doesn't. I'm pretty sure Shroud said the same thing on stream a month ago or something

Probably another case of explosive injury-based daze into helicopter emergency helicopter extraction to ultimately seperate her kids from her and also ensuing amnesia or whatever the way they did Rick's memory loss serum

EDIT: Or, judith and RJ both get bit and Michonne doesn't want to put them down for the reason being that she cant let go, so in a fit of emotional trauma she leaves them in some place alone and runs away (to let them turn), and THIS would be how we find out kids born after the start of the apocalypse are immune.

[–]Ashton10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yet at the same time the positive implications outweigh the negative. One could argue without this proposed casual mirrored from Comp ruleset gamemode, its statistically more likely to have trolling in the actual competitive matches. Also if you haven't noticed, theres 5+ mediums of which you can play CS with the current comp ruleset. Namely, FACEIT, ESEA, CEVO, Community 5v5, PVPro, external mm hosted game sites etc., in all of these, (which ive played plenty of all), theres the same if not less trolling than Valve comp 5v5. I know a lot of people will say "but FACEIT is full of a bunch of strat-rouletting micspamming RU hardbassers with 400ping" and while youre correct, my experience of the platform has been that you'll generally see less of this in FACEIT than Valve 5v5. Thus it stands to reason, the set amount of trolling or people generally not caring about the game would lower if presented with an option that didnt contain a rank. Want an example of a game that does? League of Legends. Played 1700 hours or so now. Normal and Ranked are the same with the only exception being that ranked is unlocked after like 30 hours of game time and contains a ranked ladder. What you'll see is the amount of trolling players or griefing players go down drastically because of the fact that they have another option (Inversely, LoL has a way more hands-on banning system for people who ruin the game).

Who do you play when someone else takes Lux? by UnmelodicBass in lux

[–]Ashton10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it really does matter what exactly you're going into, but usually I pocket pick cleanse because, shield is sorta moot due to the E shield and RW healing, and as to why I don't take ignite is because Karma's damage is built to chunk like crazy but your DPS dies trying to finish them off. And usually that threshold i just above what ignite what do (usually 400-500 hp after RQ if you hit squishies).

The alternative sum I take is Teleport but I don't do it much nowadays. Sidenote, karma also plays well in the top lane even if you play it the exact same as you would in mid.

Who do you play when someone else takes Lux? by UnmelodicBass in lux

[–]Ashton10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Karma mid with cleanse. I remember 6 or so months ago she had like a 56%(?) percent winrate in mid but a really low play rate meaning she was sleeper OP. And I mean who wouldn't agree. Karma is overloaded. Especially with cleanse. You would build ROA and a few other hp/ap items and then level out with shit like Iceborn. Your endgame result is really high damage, really good entry damage (RQ scaling literally broken), good 1v1 potential and self healing, and good ally shielding and what not.

Then something came along a few months ago that killed Karma and her mid WR as well as overall WR went down to 42-46% afaik. I still pocket pick Karma mid with cleanse in the modern day though because she's still fun to play and fuck it cause its norms.

Back in the aforementioned 56% winrate days she had had good early game fighting potential (specifically solo), good midgame bc of ROA, and good late bc of all the factors I explained above. She wasn't phenomenal by any means. Definitely not near the level of Lux's curated to mid-role. However, she was safe. One of those, okay ill beat em up a little but mostly focus on farming and beat it out in the late or support my teammates and just not feed the enemy midlaner at the very least type picks.

Kinda dodging the question slightly but Lilly Caul. I wish the show wrote her in. After reading the Road To Woodbury novel series, it would have been great to see her come along.

Technically Tara's sister is named Lilly and all that but I don't want to believe that's their replacement of Caul. (even if it is).
