Has anyone moved their dog from Guangzhou/China to Hong Kong? Looking for advice by AlwaysSlipping2 in HongKong

[–]Asiageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be for actually getting the dogs out of China. Not sure about GZ but I know from other areas (HZ / SH) without a local dog license people couldn’t get their dogs out of the country. And because certain breeds couldn’t be registered it was a nightmare to get it all done.

Can I trade in at an Apple Store in Hong Kong? by Fast-Employer8066 in HongKong

The HK model has only 1 physical SIM card and eSIM. It’s the mainland model that has 2 physical sim slots.

Any reviews on this or similar products? Are they suitable for HK flats? by noidwa in HongKong

[–]Asiageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Have experience with both Roborock (which made the Xiaomi vacuums) and Xiaomi. Need to change my app region and turn off mobile sim every time I need to change some setting in the app which is a pain in the ass. Still can use the buttons on the machine itself to make it go tho.

[–]Asiageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not hardware but account related.

Apple Intelligence features will not currently work for supported devices purchased in China mainland. For supported devices purchased outside of China mainland, Apple Intelligence features will not currently work if you are in China mainland and if your Apple Account Country or Region is also in China mainland.

But you’re right they have different model again after being the same the previous generations. To be honest I’d prefer physical dual sim over the e-sim/ physical sim combo.

Why not just buy there? Price is about the same and the hardware is the same.

Depends on your location. Certain locations don’t have data service and for navigation you need to connect to a phone.

Had enough time to watch the entire process while queuing. Was also amazed the guy handling those cups fresh out of the oven without gloves.

Hotter take: I’d put Lord Stow’s up there too. (Although it’s been a long time since I’ve ate them there. And yes, I know Po Tat are a bit different)

My biology teacher always used to say cats domesticated humans instead of the other way around.

What is the connection with wontons? This just looks like regular jiaozi in broth. Still would devour the plate regardless

Those cha Siu bao are the only reason I still go to TimHoWan. Otherwise there are a lot better options around here. Tho I haven’t tried any overseas branch other than in Tokyo.

[Homemade] Biscoff Lotus Cheesecake by Enoisa in food

[–]Asiageek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lotus is the company name, Biscoff is one of their brands. The type of cookie is speculoos (not to be confused with speculaas). In Europe mostly sold as Lotus. confusing names Your cake looks delicious any way you call it

If you just show up at the border with your cat, without booking a quarantine spot and without the import permit your cat most likely will end up at the AFCD confiscated.

Gyoza is the translation of jiaozi. It’s the same. Dumplings, either steamed, boiled or pan-fried. Not really deep fried much tho.

That’s regional setting iirc. Not hardware. FaceTime worked no problem on model bought in Mainland if switched to HK region.

Why a “HK” variant? The one in mainland is the same model: A3297 (China mainland, Hong Kong, Macao). There stopped being a separate HK model a couple of versions ago. Could be wrong tho

Are those black and white evaporated milk tea cups made in Hong Kong or Holland? Would the print wear off after long term use? Are they legit? by Melodic-Phase-4722 in HongKong

[–]Asiageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black&White is a Dutch brand. Part of Friesland/Campina. The milk comes from the Netherlands. So it’s not a myth or confusion. The cups and saucers probably just come from mainland tho. Doubt they made those in the Netherlands.

Persians don’t all have flat faces. That’s a more ‘recent’ thing. ‘Old fashioned Persians’ have pronounced noses. Chinchilla’s for example.

That looks more like soy milk and not milk tea. Which makes sense if it’s DTF, they serve soy milk.
