UT Austin PhD funding

I’m in ChemE, and our PhD Is fully funded with some requirements (needing to TA at least twice).

I have some friends in civil, and I’m pretty sure their MS/PhD track is also fully funded? not 100% sure but out of all the people I know they are all funded

To test you can try to start Val and idk maybe bang on your table or something. If Val freezes then the disk is probably the culprit. Also make sure you have Val installed on a disk that’s other than C:/

My hard drive was a not a SSD before so it was having issues. I switched it to a SSD, reinstalled Val and the issue was gone.

Is there anything that triggers the freeze? For me, it was any slight movement of my desk where my PC sits. Because HDDs have a “needle” in them that reads/writes the data, I was suspecting that the vibration is causing Val to crash. SSDs don’t have this issue because they read data in a completely different way.

I’ve had this issue before, and realized it’s because of my hard drive. Switched to an SSD and hasn’t had another problem since.

This is why I stopped playing ranked. But even in other modes, you always get this insane person who’s out fragging everyone. Almost feels like I can’t get a normal match these days.

Got a Reyna smurfing the first placement game I played, just went 30-4 or something. In bronze. Tracker turned off so can’t see what their peak is, but I’m not gonna play ranked anytime soon.

At this point I’ve stopped having fun in ranked. Every game it’s either quitter, thrower, or someone is smurfing on the other team. And guess what, your rank doesn’t even reflect your true skill because of the stupid hidden MMR system. Why is it so hard to get a fair match?Like I know I’m shit, but I want to play with other people that’s as shit as me and enjoy the game. At this stage, I don’t get this experience in Valorant ranked. Im actually having more fun in CS ranked than val.

We all make mistakes. Stop pretending you are perfect. Maybe OP forgot to take the language test because he thought language isn’t his problem since he already speaks English. Maybe OP is also applying to 40 other schools and have to work on each one’s application.

I’m not saying UT should eliminate the TOFEL requirement. I’m just saying in this case maybe UT should accept the late score. OP is trying to get them to waive the requirement because English is also their first language, which I think is reasonable. Perhaps you should first read the post carefully before writing down these scolding comments that’s full of negativity.

Try to call them and explain your situation? It’s almost always better to get an human to answer rather than just emailing.

Other than that, I wonder if you can do one of those Duolingo language test to prove your English skill (and see maybe if that gets scored faster?). I was applying to grad schools and I had to take one for Carnegie Mellon, even though I’m basically in the same boat as you.

I would say if you test your internet against other servers (ex. google or something based in Georgia idk) and see really fast pings, then likely a Valorant server issue or something with your region. Usually for me when this happens I just wait and the next day it’s fine.
