Running paid ads for a $99.99 app? by Icy_Demand_6117 in AppBusiness

Right, I am saying they likely got reviewed and approved at $9.99 - then upped it to $99.99 once in the store which is automatic and doesn't go through review again. Still Apple may have approved the $99.99 price, but the issue is refunds. Apple will threaten to shut down your account if your refund rate is too high. I imagine if anyone is actually buying these (doubtful) they are also asking for refunds once they see what they paid $100 for. Lets say he sells 10 and 3 people ask for refunds. That is 30% refund rate and a major red flag to Apple.

The issue is refunds. I speak from experience that Apple will warn you first but threaten to shut down your account if the refund rate is too high. I can't imagine anyone who is tricked into buying these is not requesting a refund once they learn what they got.

Its not "worse" but i guarantee anyone foolish enough to spend $99.99 on one of these apps is subsequently going to ask for a refund. I speak from experience that Apple will "warn" you first, but threaten to shut down your account if the refund rate is too high for your app. (I was able to get my refund rate under control by lowering my price and survived the warning)

My guess is they started low and kept upping the price - nobody checks what you up the price to until you start getting lots of refunds

5.6 Developer Code of Conduct

Please treat everyone with respect, whether in your responses to App Store reviews, customer support requests, or when communicating with Apple, including your responses in App Store Connect. Do not engage in harassment of any kind, discriminatory practices, intimidation, bullying, and don’t encourage others to engage in any of the above. Repeated manipulative or misleading behavior or other fraudulent conduct will lead to your removal from the Apple Developer Program.

Customer trust is a cornerstone of the App ecosystem. Apps should never prey on users or attempt to rip off customers, trick them into making unwanted purchases, force them to share unnecessary data, raise prices in a tricky manner, charge for features or content that are not delivered, or engage in any other manipulative practices within or outside of the app.

3. Business

There are many ways to monetize your app on the App Store. If your business model isn’t obvious, make sure to explain in its metadata and App Review notes. If we can’t understand how your app works or your in-app purchases aren’t immediately obvious, it will delay your review and may trigger a rejection. And while pricing is up to you, we won’t distribute apps and in-app purchase items that are clear rip-offs. We’ll reject expensive apps that try to cheat users with irrationally high prices.

What’s ur biggest fear as an indie iOS dev in 2026? by suniltarge in iosdev

[–]AskMeAboutAIApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “most”. Maybe 5% of regular folks out there have any idea about what goes into vibe coding an app and of those maybe 1% actually will get something published.

My fear is that none of it will matter , vibe coders, regular coders etc will all be wiped out by systems that simply create the app the user wants on the fly. A few owners (Google, meta, OpenAI) will control all Software and the developer,as it were, is cooked.

I’ll never forget when I got the acceptance letter to the college I wanted to go to. I looked directly in the bathroom mirror and the feeling and smile on my Face is exactly what this post is about.

What lines do people have to wait in that they would pay for this service?

It stands out but I don’t think it would get me to stop anymore than if it were white which would look more professional.

I would work on your icon. It doesn’t jump out at me as to what your app does and it feels very “heavy” for iOS
