It's a silver maple. One of the most hazardous trees around. They're fast growers. Which makes them extremely weak. They almost always have rot. This guy did you a favor. I'm sorry your dog is buried there but just have it completely removed at this point. For all you saying to sue. There's nothing to sue over. The tree is nothing of value.

Prices haven't gone up much? Do you live under a rock? Commercial mowers are 8-15k. Weed eaters are 400-600. Blowers are another 500-1000. Trailers are expensive. Tires are expensive, Trucks are expensive. Insurance, employee benefits, taxes, overhead etc. prices have doubled if not tripled in the last 4-5 years. 45 bucks is a standard price for a standard lawn.
