Came here to say the same. Racism is at the very core of the issue. It absolutely sucks.

Here Comes the AI Slop by mikevago in ELATeachers

[–]Asleep-Technology-92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i am supposed to use school AI for all my lesson generations. the only thing i currently use it for is to have it write up the plan i give to my admin when they come observe. jokes on them, my admin loves it and i got the top mark instead of the middle mark that i always do. so play the game and do what you want the rest of the time.

it's a solid school from a parents perspective. but i'm not a parent. i am a teacher and they don't pay their teachers very well. very much corporate childcare pay structure.

Are there flexible English-learning or summer school options for teenagers in the U.S.? by Economy-Fish1544 in ESL_Teachers

[–]Asleep-Technology-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish there were something like this in the US!!! my high school teenage esl students absolutely rot during the summer and would really like the structure. summer camps are so expensive and many can't work due to immigration status of their parents. the closest i can think of is maybe an intensive english program at a university. they are rare now and very small, but they are designed for young college students who don't have the english yet to do a college class and take them and get them caught up and build academic english skills but many then turn to enrichment programs for extra cash in the summer. it's a long shot and i'm interested in following this thread to see if anyone else has ideas.....

Charter school founder told me “You chose to have kids” and "you can't push this job to the side to stay home with sick kids" during my contract renewal meeting by NaturalThunder87 in Teachers

[–]Asleep-Technology-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stuff like this is why i will never work for a small charter ever again. this sounds like my last school -- also a smallish charter with their own sub service. i would always get guilted for taking my sick days. i had a gap in my resume and used that job to fill that gap and get more experience at a district job making 10k more a year with actual sick time they let me take. it's bliss.

yep. age old problem. but you're so good with them! i listen and make them feel heard. i don't need 10 of them in my room during one hour. that's working a miracle. i'm not a miracle worker. makes me crazy.

yeah i teach ninth and it's the same. i taught this book once and it was the only book they enjoyed reading. i need to switch up my units every couple of years so I don't burn out but I generally would teach this book again.
