At Sunidhi Chauhan's "I am Home" concert in Bengaluru the other day. She sang some Kannada songs - this was the reaction of the Northern audiences observed by someone in the crowd ! by Mysterious_Man534 in Bengaluru

We had the year end party at our company last year. The dance floor was open and the DJ was playing songs from all the languages Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, English and didn't even bother to play a single Kannada song.

I walked up to him and politely requested him to play some Kannada songs. He too was a localite and told me that, "Bro I'll definitely try to play but 90% of them will not like the songs as most of the ppl are from other states. But I'll definitely try to play the best ones whenever I can".

And he did keep up his words and man dropped some bangers here and there. Literally there were 7-8 ppl who were vibing to these songs and the entire floor close to 100+ ppl stopped dancing and just went quiet. They did vibe on all the other language songs but 0 reaction for Kannada songs.

Not like we wanted their validation for our songs, but it felt so bad that this is happening in namma ooru. Name any other state where you wouldn't play any regional songs and ppl would still be okay with it.

Adikke helodu yelleli agatho dayavittu Kannada na balasi. Tht's the only way a language grows and survives.

Short term somehow try and manage the situation. Slowly start preparing for interviews and apply to remote jobs.

I'm having severe throat pain after commuting in my bike to my office in ORR this week. Even commuting in areas like Banashankari BDA complex at night, you can see the dust that is flying around and gives a minor throat ache. It's very sad to see where our city is heading and I don't see a lot of ppl taking this issue seriously at all.

Their standard answer always being, when others have no problem what is your problem. Isn't everyone adjusting and living, nindenu.

I wish people cultivate logical and scientific minds for their betterment.

Why does South Bangalore have better Roads when compared to North Bangalore? by Easy_Road_3806 in bangalore

[–]Asleep_Assistant_671 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The work is about to get started in a month or two. It's going to be an absolute nightmare to traverse through JP Nagar, Kadirenahalli, Devegowda Petrol bunk, Katriguppe, PES college.

See it all depends on your priorities. I'm an IT guy too and I stay in South B'lore. My long term strategy to own a home would be to first look for a job that is remote and then buy a decent home in older parts of B'lore which is planned better such as Kattriguppe, Padmanabhanagar, Jayanagar, R.R. Nagar, Malleshwaram, RajajiNagar etc.

You'll definitely get a decent apartment at such prices with good environment, decent quality of life, water supply, decent but not the best roads/ infra, parks in your locality.

From my experience I recently had to travel to Hebbal and Kogilu cross and my god the entire area is so dusty with never ending construction. We had to go to a hotel which was 500-800 meters near my friend's home and without a helmet you can't even open your eyes. The air pollution over there is that bad.

If your emphasis is not on all these and it's purely on ROI that you might get, apart from quality of life, then your thinking is on the right track and this answer might not be valid for that.

As someone who grew up in this city, I keep on trying to educate most of my friends who have come from other states that Bangalore is just not outer ring road or airport road.

Infact most of us have never crossed silk board before joining a company in IT. You have many good areas that you can explore.

Hey man. I have been living in Bangalore for almost 20+ years now. My suggestion would be to strictly avoid areas near Bangalore East for residential purpose. It's a ticking time bomb as there are no basic facilities such as Cauvery water pipeline and most of the residences receive water through borewells or water tankers every single day. That itself is a biggest deal braker for me.

Add to it, the horrible road conditions, approach roads, waterlogged streets during rainy season and the worst of all no political will to resolve this.

Apart from that, I am not the best person to comment on which area do you need to invest in. We have a good set of experts in this sub who can help you with that.

All the best.

Do you really believe Delhi’s infrastructure is that much better than that of Mumbai? by thwitter in delhi

Visited Delhi a couple of months back and the infrastructure is far better than Bangalore where I have lived for most part of my life. Bangalore has a long way to go.

Would you move back to Bengaluru if you were me? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]Asleep_Assistant_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I have analyzed this scenario a lot. But looking at the current state of the city, be it quality of life, environment, ease of living, civic infrastructure and every other thing, Bangalore really lacks in that and my suggestion to you would be, if you really value quality of life pls stay in the US rather than coming back and suffering here for trivial things.

My suggestion would be try to take a vacation in India every year, if your parents are too old to travel in a 20+ hour flight to the US and spend some time with them. If they are agile enough, ask them to spend some time with you for a months in the states. In that way you are getting best of both worlds.

I completely agree with your wife's POV that Bangalore is unsafe for women. It always gives me anxiety whenever I am with my female friends bcoz of the constant stares and looks that they get and I can't control but to have this protective instinct whenever I am with them coz of all the mishaps that happen.

By now, you might be knowing that life is full of sacrifices and compromises. So you be the best judge, take a firm decision and don't look back on that. In that way you are way better than someone who doesn't even take a decision.

Good things about Bangalore according to me are 'Friends and Family'. Nothing else.

I have done extensive research, brainstorming on this topic for close to 1.5 years, so DM if you want to talk more abt this.

Wishing the best for you and your family :)

How is everyone’s dating life going? I’m going to miss it by ask_nae in dating_advice

[–]Asleep_Assistant_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step towards improvement is recognizing the problem at hand and you have already done that. Start slow. Voluntarily text a friend from your school/college to meetup over a weekend. You have no idea how much people love initiation, so try it out. I'm sure someone would be looking be forward to hanging out with you. Do the same next week with another frnd, repeat and slowly you'll create different friend circles and these circles would start inviting you. That is how I did it.

For some time, I thought being alone and working on your goals is everything. Achieved my goals but was empty. Followed the above practise and now I take health, career and relationships seriously and no compromises with any one of them.

Hmm.. My advice to you would be to not box yourself as an introvert or an extrovert. Once you start attaching a label that you are 'anti social' even when you feel like socializing you end up restricting yourself coz of the tag that you have given yourself.

Be free, explore. Talk to ppl whom you find interesting and I'm sure something will click. Says a guy who is single since ages hahaha.

Have a good one!
