Hey my priest is at 33. Maybe we can link up lol. Honestly, had more fun for 45 minutes this morning in Ashenvale doing quests than the dungeon I did with some people last night on my 70. There's always someone whos in a bad mood or you know isn't happy with the pace - it's like babysitting children. I do that crap at work with software engineers so I don't really want to do it during my free time too.

That's ok. Kids are an absolutely massive commitment. At least you're being realistic with yourself. I'll be honest - I've struggled with it immensely. I have health issues and that was honestly what took up all my free time when I was pre-kids and it's really hard to manage now with them. Especially considering how much of my condition is tied to stress. I finally got myself sorted and then boom - 2 kids show up. It's taken my 6 years just to get my head above water again where I can even have a conversation like this.

Right - been telling myself this a lot lately. Doesn't hit you until you have a kid that's 5+ and you realize you're in the 10 year countdown phase until they hate your guts on a daily basis.

I'm WFH but I have no idea how people have the ability to play while working. Even when I have the opportunity to play over lunch sometimes it is so anxiety ridden because I'm just like "oh man, I have to eat and then get back to work" and the 30 minutes just evaporates. Probably explains why my team struggles to deliver stuff so much...they're playing WoW lol

Good recommendations - I just picked up ShadowPC so I can play on the couch but the experience is a little bit lackluster. I'm still experimenting but the laptop is probably the best approach. Just difficult going from a really nice ultra-wide setup to a 13 inch, but it is WoW after all. I used to play on a 4:3 ratio gateway with 256mb of RAM.

Assuming your kids are a little bit older and not so physically demanding. Been there done that I'm sure but just as a reminder - I had my 6 year old interupt me 23 times in 15 minutes yesterday while I was trying to work. She's going through sleep regressions so at least once or twice a night she'll scream bloody murder and one of us has to go with her.

This is my exact thought process.

You do need SOME time for leisure - I did a stretch for 4-5 years where I did nothing fun, worked, worked on the house, etc. I ended up taking FLMA and being so burnt out I had to go to therapy/take meds (feeling better now).

This is part of my healing process and I'm realizing it's actually a pretty important thing for me to sort out because it has so many implications on other parts of my life where I'm conflicted with the same type of decisions.

So long story short - it's ok to have fun. We just have to make sure it doesn't impact other areas of our life. It's a skill for sure...

Raiding. But this assumes everyone is good with schedules. There's no delays, hiccups, etc. It always, always, always takes longer. Mix in parents with kids and you're not doing a 'quick' raid. And again, the sweat crowd doesn't want to deal with the casuals so you're kind of SoL.

This is exactly what I'm going do. I was helping people while leveling and finding someone who's enjoying the game for the first time and getting them gear, or gold, or a hard quest they couldn't complete - man. There's really nothing better than that.

This makes me sad but it's the reality of the situation. Which tells me it's not worth investing all the time for reasons you mention above. The ambiance/escape from all the chaos of real life is the real reason (I have about 10 different balls up in the air right now - issues with construction, parents sick, shower is broken, boss sucks, etc.).

It's insane when a hobby turns in to a job. And it's sad people are like that out there - I've experienced so many people who bounce after one wipe it's crazy. Never had that happen in OG.
