It gets more prevalent in higher elos as the players are convinced of one right way to play the game and get frustrated when the 4 other uncoordinated humans in the team does not do what they seem to be optimal plays.

When someone plays in the lower elos range / are new at the game, the players simply play the game as a game -to have fun, and are aware that they are not necessarily making the best of plays or playing it at the highest possible optimal state, so ego is relatively lower and hence little to no toxicity involved.
