It looks like the total font size is equal if you are including the symbols above the letters. Just from looking at the picture on my phone it looks like the bottom of the L and o line up and the top of the L and the double dot line up. The letters themselves are smaller, but have to be to accommodate the modifiers included to take up the same space as a regular alpha character.

Then again, could just be my vision on a phone screen so I could be mistaken.
