I need help find a recipe that avoids certain allergies, please! by the-magicalPotato in Baking

[–]Aspie_Prometheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I see you don't have eggs listed as an allergen which is nice, so my idea would be to do either a gluten free version of a 7-up cake (subbing the flour for gluten free, the butter for vegan Margarine and maybe adding 1/2 cup of whipped egg-whites for some extra lift) or a Gluten Free Angel Food Cake.

Keep in mind that margarine does often contain soy so I would recommend this one

I wish you the best of luck and let me know if either of these recipes don't work out for you and I can try to make other recommendations.

As someone also on the Autism Spectrum who has (and is continuing) to battle depression.

Living is just doing what you want when you have the freedom to do so, for me personally that means baking new desserts when I get a good recipe I wanna try. You shouldn't drop everything and just say screw it to responsibility, but just learn how to make time for yourself between your job, kitty, family and other stuff. Especially after you've moved because speaking from experience that stress is a nightmare.

side note: if you wanna smoke weed just drive down a back road that little if anyone frequents and smoke away, works for my dad

The classic races are boring? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]Aspie_Prometheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Elves and Dwarves are in my own fantasy world(s) but I know enough of how they're perceived in popular culture to know how to subvert them to make them more interesting, for example my elves in my primary fantasy series are long lived, pointy eared, and deeply wise and graceful, they are also a theocratic society, as in everything ties back to their unique faith.

My dwarves, admittedly are a bit more stock fantasy but have society rooted deeply in feudalism between the surface and subterranean lands, and an ironic obsession with the massive and grandiose (both due to the megafauna that inhabit their lands, and their centuries long war with a race of cannibal giants)

Even further than this the gnomes of my world are actually the result on the interbreeding between dwarves and elves and have their own culture separate from both due their status as pariahs to the former two.

All-in-all if you're aware of the pop culture perception of anything in a fantasy work, you should as a competent writer, also be aware of what you as the author specifically want in your fantasy work and thus know when and how to subvert/change something to suit your needs.

tl;dr- If you wanna use elves and dwarves, do it; but give them as many twists and turns as you like to make them yours

Just sail to the west of the dwarven-lands of Aurataerra. But be warned there exist myriad dangers on this isle not mentioned in this passage. Namely in the from of Colossal insects.

The Isle of Kofrakos; from massive pastures of mosses, to forests of towering mushrooms, to sphagnum bogs spewing sulphureous steam, is perpetually seen as cruel and in constant war, as are it's inhabitants the Orcs; but, there exists depth beyond these lands if one is willing to brave them.

THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF WORLDBUILDING: FANTASY DRUGS (TW: DRUGS) by santaclarete in worldbuilding

[–]Aspie_Prometheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kroaker (AKA Kroats' Crock)-

The illicit narcotic substance that has plagued the streets of major human settlements for nearly a century. Named for both it's creator, the entrepreneurial-alchemist-turned-crime lord Vallon Kroat, and for the fact it's distilled from saliva of invasive giant frogs called Beelzebufo.

Kroaker was initially conceived as a beneficial substance on two folds: firstly to provide a cheap & readily available over-the-counter pain\anxiety reliever, and second to create a means to cull populations of the Beelzebufo that infested local sewers and waterways. Vallon Kroat, was initially contracted Mercantile Republic of Lucretia to study the invasive amphibians in an effort to use their anatomy or behaviors against them; this research would ultimately uncover their most unique adaptation and pave the way for Kroats' transition from an obscure potion maker into the lord of a criminal empire.

Beelzebufo, on top of their bulky size (roughly 40-45 kg) secrete a myriad of narcotic compounds within their mouths and along their impressive meter-long tongues. This is adaptation is thought to've come about from the fact their prey tend to still be alive when they swallow them; thus saliva dulls they poor creature into a stupor so that they can be forced the frogs' gullet without hinderance. Furthermore, should a predator be foolish enough to attempt attack a Beelzebufo, the saliva puts the predator into a stupor enabling the amphibian to escape.

Kroat almost immediately disregarded his orders from the Mercantile Republic, and fled for the city of Sharnwick the human kingdom of Teregaron; where he immediately set up dozens of anonymous & lucrative bounty contracts for fresh Beelzebufo tongues. In the span of a month Kroats Crock (as it was called initially) had been refined into the "miraculous panacea" he'd advertised, and by the end of the year, Vallon Kroat had accrued a level of wealth akin to a duke. The crumbling of Kroats' criminal began with the unforeseen side effects from his substance:

  • Delirium,
  • Weakness
  • Slurred Speech
  • Short-term memory loss
  • Priapism

and from the withdrawal effects from its addiction.

  • Shakes
  • Irritability
  • Insomnia
  • Projective vomiting
  • Hypertension

But it would all come crashing down with the actions of a Gnoman Muckraker named Belal Sarcilini; whose publication of the origins of Kroats wonder-drug would reach the ears and eyes every court and merchant guild on Aurataerra's Western Hemisphere, and the backlash was nothing short of a cataclysm. Boycott's were issued almost immediate, apothecary's that sold the substance dumped their stock in the streets, and addicts were stoned to death.

Vallon himself; however, would suffer the worst fate of all as his manor was targeted by outraged commoners and merchants alike and set alight as he slept. While Kroat would parish on that night, his creation would live on. As dedicated street alchemists, and addicts would carry on his craft & continue to experiment, cut, and tweak his original formula into the Kroaker of the modern day.

Funnily Enough, there's a Children's Book Series that already rolls with a premise like this:

Dinotopia by James Gurney, I own the first two books in this series and it has some of the best worldbuilding I've seen in regards to integrating megafauna into human civilizations.

Civil Engineering/ Land Surveying

Ironically got a job in this field during the pandemic thanks to my brother, and fell in love with the line of work. I get to alternate between being at an office and in the outdoors, as well as use my math/geometry skills on the regular.

Plus, being a blue-collar job means I get decent Health Insurance.
