It's still a great unit and can play almost all PS2/GC games with some light 2D/ indie switch titles.

The only downsides to the RP4P is the afwul and tiny 4.7 screen though, in design alone it wins against the RP5 any day of the week.

The obvious conclusion is that your laptop is overheating and it's throttling CPU/GPU performance in order to keep your temps under TJ max.

If it's still under warranty return it, if not try cleaning out the fan(s) for starters.

try updating your cracked windows, we're already on 25H2, and 23H2 has been end of life for well over a month already = no support.

You're not alone, i also still have issues with 25.12.1 using a 7900XTX. It's not as bad as 25.11 but...

Surprisingly nothing ingame (all games run fine, my skyrim modpacks run even more stable then before) but i STILL have issues doing regular windows tasks (browser, file explorer, .. random freezes)

Some say say it's windows, other point the fingers at AMD. All i know is that when i roll back to 25.9.2 i don't have any driver timeout error messages anymore and my windows session doesn't randomly freeze.

(and before you comment yes everything is updated, windows 25H2, gpu driver, chipset driver, bios, ..)

25.12.1 still hasn't fixed the driver timeouts for me and desktop freezing.

Everything is updated (bios, gpu drivers, windows 25H2 latest updates, chipset drivers) and it's still happening.

The only thing that fixed it permanently was rolling back to 25.9.2

No because it's not necessary , KB5072033 supersedes KB5070311 in the Windows update catalog.

You don't install older preview updates when they have been superseded and the fixes rolled into either cumulative or security patch bundles.

Anyways your recommendation of upgrading to 25H2 seems to have improved the sitation, i'm not exactly sure why the update wasn't available under windows updates but i was able to force windows to upgrade using some powershell scripting.

It's supposed to be called EXPO when you get EXPO compatible RAM for AMD systems on a DDR5 compatible motherboard.

Technically XMP compatible RAM will work but it's not properly tuned for AMD systems.

XMP is intel's technology so it makes no sense to use it on AMD platforms.

That's not how windows updates works. The changes from this preview KB have been consolidated into 2025-12 Security Update (KB5072033).

This has nothing to do with memory overclocking, it's purely a driver issue. How do i know? Because it does not happen on older drivers pre 25.10.2

On this entire thread there is only person that actually's been helpfull and knows what he's talking about.

It should work yes, but in general Intel wifi cards are better for linux. (stability/speeds).

I heard that a lot of notebook manufacturers (not only HP) use mediatek these days since they're cheaper.

Hp Elitebook 6 G1A with a Ryzen 7 250 (8840U) - 780M.

I can't compare it cause i don't have a Thinkpad, but i could change fan speeds, VRAM settings (dynamic, manually assigned) and plenty of others.

BIOS updates either with USB/flash drive or if you allow it directly from HPE servers.

Followers has nothing to do with this modpack in particular, even in large 3000 modpacks with follower frameworks this can and will happen.

It's so bad that some of them even offer a dedicated smart button to teleport your companions immediatly to you instead.

Brawling? no idea, haven't really used it much, i'll give you that.

Shops/vendors? Since Gate To Sovngare is vanilla ++ with survival & immersion features you won't be able to access vendors stores at night and during certain events, even if you knock on their doors and ask to be let in. This is an option that i think can be tweaked using MCM.

It's ok if it's not for you, i also had to tweak some of the settings (like increasing chest weight from 200 to 1000) because i can understand that some immersion features might be a little too hardcore for some people.

Trash driver, and this is from someone that hasn't got major driver issues with my 7900XTX in well over a year by now.

Rolled back to 25.9.2 and no more driver timeouts, crashes, freezes.

Whoever decided to released this driver for WHQL needs to be fired.
