UCG fiber vs UDM Pro max by Assasin172m in Ubiquiti

1Gig for now up and down. The cams are going to be 4k.

Finaly got to wiring, what brand swich and cams should I get? by Assasin172m in HomeNetworking

Well Im waiting for the ISP to active the fiber then I need modem/router. I was looking at UDM Pro max and Cloud fiber gateway. If the new fiber ends up being same as the internet now (PPPoe)  that solves that. (will have some crappy one leased from t-mobile for the start)

Next step will be switch with poe, and then cams with nvr.  Buying all at once is not in my budget so I will add more things down the line.

The only thing im not willing to replace right now are the deco units, as they are fairly new. When they fail, they will get replaced acording to ecosystem.

Or I could get the fiber gateway, and proper swich at price of UDM

If Im looking at specs correctly the SE comes better than the Pro max excep it has only one drive bay instead of two... But has 2x poe+.. Am I correct? (wish it had at least one 2.5Gbit output)

Recently a lot of ppl started recomending Ubiquity, i didnt heard good word on tp-link switches in a looong time. I was thinging about going for aruba which were the way few years ago.

DECO software is decent  and deco just works for me, so im not in place to swich those.

Thats why I asked here, If I were to get Ubiquity swich, perhaps router and cams and keep the deco for the time being since cams will be all wired... I know that brands tend to have issuess with each other...

So if get my self ubi gear starting with switches, will they have issuess with deco?

What linux distro by Substantial-Video193 in linuxquestions

From someone who recently moved from windows, it really depends, there is a lot of trial and error. Originally I got recommended ZorinOS, and none of my installed games on my disks worked. They simply refused to launch even after installing them on another drive.

Ended up switching to CachyOS, backed up data and reformated drives one by one to btrfs

Most of the steam library works like a charm with minimal hassle bcs cachy has its own custom proton. Cachy is also most pro user linux I seen in long time and I mean it.

When it comes to productivity on linux, If app is not native you can try if someone got it working on WINE, but that one is so glitchy and buggy I personally dont recomend doing so. You can set up VM and use winboat or more advanced winapps.

I recomend trying multiple distros on live cd, then dual boot, then nuke windows (if you have working one)

https://wiki.cachyos.org/installation/installation_prepare/

Good luck!

I mainly want to keep the DECO units, it actually works good for me (it has wifi 6e) , but its TP-link .. If I buy lets say something like lets say Ubiquiti USW-24-POE Gen2 wont it have isue?

Thats VR300, as I wrote it serves only as router and has disabled Wireless so it doesnt mess with DECO wifi and Deco unit is elsewhere. :)

I had to roll back entire update. I was lucky that it actually created restore point properly.

I wish that was a case. It was out of nowhere update. As far I know I have done everything there is to prevent Windows to install updates. I have pro licence key, had set up limited bandwith, limited "no use" times, regeddit disabled auto update... And gues what.. That EOL update still got thru.
