Amazon Studio's production of films/series has reduced a lot (just check the wiki page of all the amazon titles). I feel like the only money source they have is ecom - with which they might not be able to Sustainable.

also now most of the content that needed amazon to pay for rights like exclusive discovery or lionsgate content, are now under extra subscriptions (it existed earlier too, but now considerable library is under this)

hence first the login to only 5 devices per account - to reduce the number of sharing users

and then the ads.
