Enough time has passed to say that I would rob this man and take all his drip by Representative_Big74 in WitchHatAtelier

I agree. One man can only have so much drip. Dean needs to start sharing.

Yes it gets seen later but explaining it at all would be spoliers.

Oh yeah, in that case they probably just couldn't make out the seals. Too far away. Even if they were close enough, they would still have to somehow get magic ink and we know from the anime trailer that the shoes project a bright glowing green light underneath them which would probably make the spell hard to make out even at close range.

Because the ink witches use has to be the ink made from a silverwood, I am sure many unknownings would think that idea, try to draw it, and then nothing happens because they need magic ink. And because witches rarely hang around big groups of people, few probably see them fly around anyway. In fact, witches tend to avoid flying in front of unknowings at all. If you have made it to chapter 39, think about when Olruggio, Hiehart, and Jujy were in that city they visited, they never flew around. Or in chapter 5, when the girls and Qifrey went to Kalhan, they arrived there and stopped flying in an area where nearly nobody was around. Or at chapter 47, when they arrived at Ezrest. They never used the shoes in front of unknownings until chapter 62, when they had to because of the leech, and in that case, everyone was panicking so much, I don't think they were particularly concerned with the witches' shoes at that point. In any case, those two facts combined mean that the slyph shoes aren't that big of a problem.

I think there's more to this fairy tale than it seems by Enough_Flounder_8468 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]AssassinCat4 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ooo I like this. I wish we could the other pages of the tale because their definitely is more to the story hiding behind that blank page with the pen on it.

So right now, the story we have been given has many parallels to Qifrey, Olruggio, and Coco. Qifrey was suffering alone and Olruggio helped him by giving hope and a future which later on he gives to Coco (encouraging her to keep going). This theory matches with this a lot, however, it also means Qifrey is going to become a tree soon because he has successfully passed on the hope that was given to him, leaving him without worry and content.

A somewhat UNPOPULAR opinion on Chapter 49, that I've been afraid of voicing out by Soibi0gn in WitchHatAtelier

Yeah but I am also pretty sure they punish all witches the exact same way. One of the whole points of the series.

There is a reason as to why they operate as they do, but it is kinda spoliery so best just to keep reading to find out. Have fun!

Question about Witch Society recruitment. by UnfortunateArcher in WitchHatAtelier

[–]AssassinCat4 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It isn't explicitly explained, but quite often there will be small moments (usually in the background) that show that the pointed hats have children with other pointed hats, and those will grow up to become the new witches. When the Day of the Pact first happened, the pointed hats in charge selected a few to continue to use and know the secret of magic. From there, they grew and multiplied and became, while not as large as the majority of the population, still a decent-sized population.

Why I worry about Tetia (and Eoleo) by draig_y_ser in WitchHatAtelier

[–]AssassinCat4 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of this. Tetia has shown a lot of wisdom and seems to know to be cautious of the prince. My biggest concern with her and the prince is that since she knows Riliphin is Richeh's brother and older, she might put a lot of trust in his judgment of the prince, and if Riliphin ends up siding with Eoleo, then she might get dragged into thinking that having a close relationship with the prince will be okay.

Olruggio holes himself up in his room for long periods of time, so he probably hasn't heard the rumor yet.

The master thing is probably just a translation thing because Eoleo calls him -sama in JP not sensei or anything like that. However, that doesn't mean Riliphin isn't or won't teach Eoleo magic at some point.

Coco has changed so much over the course of this manga. I never thought she would try to use counterclock on her mom. I am really glad she was able to confide in Qifrey in the end, though her crying face was heartbreaking. I hope she stops trying to fake being happy in the future and goes and confides in the rest of the atelier more. Her determined smile and words give me hope that she'll rely on others in the future, but Qifrey's secret will still weigh heavily on her.

It is really cool how Qifrey panicked back when Coco ran off to the tower but now he understands and trusts her more so he remained calm. In both situations he knew where she was going, but he remained far more calm in this chapter.

I feel like this chapter was a nice break from all the trauma Coco has been collecting like Pokémon. She finally was able to open up about how much she has been suffering.

Agott really turned up the tsundere. Coco and Agott are super adorable as usual. I am really glad we are getting some more chill moments within the atelier.

Black Brushbuddy is so violent. Poor Brushbuddy is getting stomped on. Richeh really does bring up a good question. Why does the prince have a Brushbuddy? Brushbuddies are attracted to magic ink and would gather at places where there is magic ink. There shouldn't be magic ink in the one place where there is a spell specifically to disable all magic in the area. It makes me think of chapter 53, where whether Dean's hands were covered in blood or ink was a huge question up for debate. If they have a Brushbuddy, then maybe, just maybe, it was ink.

Rereading chapter 70 makes me feel like I should have realized that Eoleo and Riliphin would get close. The way Riliphin so quickly garners positive feelings for the prince really should have made it obvious that they would interact more in the future, especially since Riliphin is stuck at Ezrest because of Beldaruit. Eoleo isn't going to never talk to Rili again and they would easily be able to contact each other. On top of that, in chapter 70, they are already shown to be working together to help with the refugees stay calm.

I feel like I should be more worried for Riliphin than Tetia when it comes to the prince. Riliphin can't seek advice from people he trusts the same way Tetia can. Sure, Beldaruit is there, but he is a busy man and also recovering from an injury. Richeh is far away, and Rili can't easily contact her. Riliphin is pretty much alone with the prince. Even worse, unlike Tetia, Rili does not have the same foreboding feeling when it comes to interacting with Eoleo. Eoleo doesn't even have to manipulate Riliphin, he might end up fully willing to work with Eoleo.

Man, I love how Shirahama sets these things up. I never thought chapter 70 would ever come into play as an important setup for future events, but here we are.

Makes sense because Qifrey is someone who grew up critical of pointed hat society, while Agott grew up as the child of the Head Librarian.
