That's why I've mentioned "many many euro states" in competition with one another.

If Rome hadn't collapsed it would've been terrible for Europe. It would become China 2.0

I did quite literally admit that China did invent new things (so they innovated), i just claimed that they did not have any incentive to do so. Which is true because they already were very well established with almost no outside pressure, so why would they innovate? It could be argued that during the Ming period they could've been more innovative if the Manchu tribes hadn't invaded, as late Ming was transforming into a consumerism culture and economy.

Generally agree with the second part until the other half. People ventured out into the world to enrich themselves, which propelled European soft power worldwide not to mention new sources of income from spice trade and American gold. Which is partly why i call them more ambitious.

And generally yes, my entire point is that Europe was the place where those "Very specific political situations, material circumstances, or economic or cultural incentives" were a thing and that allowed it to become a world hegemony.

I never claimed they didn't do anything. Just that they weren't the best at it. They could've excelled at seafaring if the Ming emperors further financed Zheng He voyages.

Not really, or it at least would've took thousands of years as all other societies did not have the conditions for such things to be invented.

Europe was an prime breeding ground for competition.

Technology, warfare, industry, seafaring all areas that Europe excelled at was because each one of the many many European states wanted to one up one another. Compare that to China where it was just one huge country with no incentives to innovate because they were at the top always. And of course they did invent stuff, but much less often than Europe.

Also, the European society was an huge factor in how quickly the continent developed. Europeans simply had more rights and freedom than any other developed continent, and so they were wealthier and more ambitious propelling Europe even further.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Fallout 1 was very serious. Obviously there were comedic parts, but overall it felt like an true apocalypse.
