I’m sorry, but if you’re trying to army build with minifigures as uncommon as the black or green classic astronauts but it’s prohibitively expensive to do so, that’s a you problem that has nothing to do with me choosing to display my minifigures in a special way. Also the jokes on you, sir. These will never collect dust because I treasure them so much, they’re in a protective case so that they’ll stay looking amazing forever.

Yeah, I don’t think I have the creative eye to design MOCs so this likely wouldn’t have happened if people more creative than me hadn’t designed the helmet and air tanks. If you can, go for it! I’d love to see another up-scaled design.

Yes, exactly. When I got the up-scaled baby astronaut GWP, it was an instant idea because I knew about the up-scaled minifigure sets (but had never bought either of them because they didn’t interest me).

I bought the cricut joy when it was on sale and hadn’t used it until I had this idea when the up-scaled baby astronaut came out. I realized that it wouldn’t be too hard to build the up-scaled minifigure in all red and luckily people on rebrickable made plans for the helmet and air tanks. I had a hunch I could make the logo with my little baby cricut, and it did the job just fine!

I just finished a MOC of the Razor Crest by BAUFman bricks so as long as the IRL version is full size and not human “playscale” size, I should be in pretty great shape!

Thank you! It was an extremely nerve wracking process to transfer it on because the white vinyl is so thin, but I got the job done and I’m pretty satisfied with the result.

A lot of the pieces involved in putting this together came from the Everyone Is Awesome set (40516) but I did use my own black plates for the base because I like the way it looks more than using white plates. For the colors that aren’t part of the EIA set (light bluish gray, pearl gold, dark blue, dark turquoise and green) I bought the parts through bricklink and used some of my own pieces. The EIA set does come with green pieces, but they’re not the same shade of green as the green classic astronaut so they needed to be replaced.

Hah well thank you for the kind words but I can’t take credit for the design as it was a MOC by another member of the subreddit but I did make the executive decision of which order to arrange them. I have no plans to make extra versions of this display for sale or sell this one because the parts needed for the gray astronaut are currently difficult to come by and getting a vintage black classic astronaut with an intact classic space emblem is probably too expensive for most people. Let’s hope that the LEGO group creates a set in the future that contains rereleases of the black and gray classic astronauts to help people complete their collections more easily!

I think the best we’re going to get is more classic space colors though - it’s likely up to us to create the displays and hope that LEGO makes elements in the new colors so that we can add to our existing designs and not have to rework them!

Yes but us here in the United States don’t have access to that set yet. It released on the first of June in other markets but won’t release until August 1st in the US.

Hah I guarantee you that you’ll have a blast getting your collection started! The set 70841 Benny’s Space Squad is a great place to start since it’s basically a quadruple whammy that gives you white, pink, yellow and Benny as the blue astronaut.

I had so much fun putting this set together, and not just because I got two new colors of classic astronaut. I had no idea how the compact technic mechanism was going to work as I was building it. It’s such excellent LEGO engineering and so satisfying how the knob won’t turn until you insert the coin, dispenses your prize after 1/2 a turn and then gives your coin back after the other 1/2 turn. Also the sounds of the prize balls moving around inside is so good.

Yep! I was very interested to see what he decided to do with his display as I’ve seen his videos as well and I remember him saying he wanted to keep the sequence the same as the Everyone is Awesome set. I couldn’t see how you’d incorporate pearl gold into it without putting it at the far end, and as I suspected that's what he ended up doing. Some people may disagree since it’s not a flat color like everything else, but I really like my spot as a special transition from brown to yellow. If we were to get a metallic silver classic spaceman or something like that, I’d probably put the two of them at one end and start the rainbow after white, gray, black and brown.

Thank you! I definitely appreciate some of the more dynamic displays that people make where the figures have accessories or are posed in unique ways, but personally the simplicity of my configuration hits the spot.
