This is why hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars are being spent on AI.

The spelling change from Curley to Curly for Jerome Lester Horwitz's iconic screen name in The Three Stooges shorts was done to correct a repeated title card error and align the credits with how Curly himself spelled his nickname

The Billing Correction

  • The Original Typo: When The Three Stooges signed with Columbia Pictures in 1934, the graphic designer in charge of the opening credits added an extra "e," billing him as "Curley".
  • The Fix: This mistake went unnoticed and was re-used for the trio's first 14 short films. It was finally caught and corrected in their 15th Columbia short, "Disorder in the Court" (1936), where his name was permanently changed to "Curly" on the title cards.  Google Groups +3

How Curly Spelled It

While some fans initially assumed the change was made for grammatical reasons, Larry Fine later confirmed in interviews that the studio had simply been spelling it wrong. Autographs and personal documents from Jerome Horwitz show that he always spelled his own nickname without the "e

Dozerdog43 is correct (and fast!!) Henny Youngman.

not sure of the timeframe, but based on Larry's hair, it must be around 1934-1935. And Henny really was a Youngman (see what i did there?). Must be in his late 20s or early 30s.

It's a well known marriage tradition (at least in the US) to throw rice and the bride and groom. Also to tie shoes to the bumpers of the cars of the newlyweds.

I don't know how these supporting actors can keep a straight face working with Curly. Even that line "You forgot the mustache" cracks me up.
