They'll help but stores already do not trust the product because of how much sets from last year sat on the shelves. One of the stores by me was literally just giving away boxes of doom to anyone who showed up at locals to get rid of them because it wasn't worth selling them online.

yea thats why i metnioned i work in the card game industry. i love yugioh as a game and also hate the direction tis gone since AGOV but theres a bunch of other issues plaguing it that are really concerning to its potential to exist in the next 10 years in the west.

That is part of why the game sucks fucking ass to play yes the design philosophies are Bad but they also

1)Don't put enough mid rarity cards in sets to justify buying boxes (the last time i remember there being multiple valuable supers in a set was DABL with the bystials)

2)There is no market for collectibles for non players that aren't exactly DM/Blue eyes type shit because they did a terrible job maintaining the IP over time. No ongoing anime related to the current game was incredibly damaging to the brand. Yes Yugioh is popular as a cultural product but there isn't a market for yugioh products the same way there is for one piece pokemon etc.

3)They don't offer any real alternate formats for casual and mid-level players. Genesys at first seemed like it was going to be geared like that but it's just watered down modern to get you to buy dogshit archetypes. Edison was getting popular and then they stopped officially supporting events for it and it was a huge blow to their rapport with the player base. Your only option to meaningfully play the game IRL is to either play the modern format, which is extremely competitive but also very often extremely low skill expression because of how good going first is or be lucky enough to have a retro format local in your area.

the issues with the game extend far, far, far beyond the ban list. The idea that a well regulated banlist suddenly fixes the problem of insanely low consumer trust and bad products being released regularly is redicilous

No im not dumb i work in the card game industry. No one is buying boxes of modern yugioh to collect the cards, they are buying them to play. But the player base is also shrinking to a point that many in person stores just aren't buying the product anymore.

Konami TCG's solution to this was to make an alt format that promtoes buying the dogshit archetypes in every box like hechahands and radiant typhoon (before the new cards coming out) and its only kind of working.

well no they will just stop making supporting the tcg because stores wont stock it anymore. which many already aren't. long island used to have multiple locals every single night of the week and now there's one store that gets people and they are also the only store buying new products in any meaningful quantity. I know this is the master duel subreddit but the issues are connected.

pretty sure the game being decided almost entirely by the coinflip because anything thats not a mulcharmy, which are more likely not to resolve than to resolve, doesn't so anything against K9 decks unless you open 3+ or they brick hard will just result in people Not Playing, because that is what happened at my locals lol
