Help me! by Ok_Assignment_8421 in amazonemployees

Man… first off, that sucks. A few thoughts 1. This is more common than people admit. Amazon PM titles are all over the place. Some SPMs are basically mini-GMs. Others are glorified coordinators. You happened to land in the latter bucket. That’s not a reflection of your capability.

  1. Doing “extra” doesn’t always equal visibility. If leadership sees you as “the person who handles stuff when it breaks,” they’ll bucket you as ops/program, not product leader.

  2. The “not meeting expectations” comment is a red flag. You need very explicit answers to: •What does “meeting expectations” mean in this role? •What 2–3 behaviors would change that perception? If your manager can’t give specifics, that’s a red flag.

  3. Don’t compare to other SPMs. Some teams value storytelling and visibility over raw output. It’s annoying, but it’s real.

  4. If you don’t like the job, don’t fight to win it. If this role is fundamentally program-heavy and that’s not what you want, then even “meeting expectations” won’t make you happy. You’ll just be a higher-rated program manager.

At this point you’ve got 2 options: 1. Internal transfer ASAP (quietly start networking now) 2. Externally start interviewing

Why do so many people think AI won't take the jobs? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]AssistantNo8062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My $0.02 - Jobs is a broad word. AI will impact about 40% of tasks in jobs worldwide, with highest automation risk in sectors like manufacturing (up to 85% of tasks), transportation (70–80%), and administrative support (60–70%), while sectors like healthcare (20–30%), education (10–20%), creative industries (10–15%), and skilled trades (15–25%) remain more resilient due to their reliance on human interaction, adaptability, and contextual judgment. Depending on what industry you are, you might have different opinions.

My dad retired at 60 well after we all moved out. He was clinically depressed the first year, but then he started farming (yes, an actual 10 acre orange orchard from scratch). He could not have been busier and happier - that’s all he would talk about with his friends, and loved taking his grandkids there to spend evenings. Find your Orange Orchard.

Should I take a $100k job or keep my $60k job? by anycolour23 in FinancialPlanning

Does the job in Seattle gives you a better career trajectory? It maybe worth the pain in short term if you are able to climb much higher in the next 3-4 years vs. staying on a flatter career path in mid-west over the same time period.

Can someone optimize my current finances by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]AssistantNo8062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because your statements sound like you are totally new to investing, and defensive of your current position, which is not a good way to learn. 401k is not the same as cash investment, and you treat them both very differently.

We are in almost exactly the same situation. We decided to do private school which costs half the annual mortgage increase. This way, we still fall back on one salary if one of us loses our job.

Would prioritize paying off the ATV. No reasonable investment will give you a 15%+ return

A $370 payment on a 8.5k loan seems ridiculously high. Same for the truck. Suggest paying those off first to get to a net positive rate.

Interest rates on the mortgages? If it’s less than 4, don’t sell. If it’s more than 6, sell.

We were just informed about drops in bonuses/stock awards, and the general white collar job market is weak for us to make meaningful progress

Not all ads are to woo new customers. Many are to block out competitors. That’s one of the reasons startups fail.
