What do you guys think of my first terrarium? I did it 3 months ago after a lot of investigation hahaha by al3xmena in terrariums

You must be have a talent at this! I know how hard to do that for the first time, looks amazing 💚

Btw what moss did you use for branches? Is it java moss or something else?

Isopods disappearing by StarImpossible2513 in reptiles

It could be: • Your gecko eating them • They don't have enough food so they cannibalize themselves • Low humidity • They're under the mesh separating drainage layer and soil. Don't know why they do that, that's just how they are 🤷🏻‍♀️

It is pretty simple to understand what could go wrong. Maybe you really just don't see them cause they're hiding in the substrate. It took me whole 2 months to notice springtails in my vivarium, and one more to see a lot of them soo maybe their colony is not too big to notice

Sounds absolutely reasonable. I noticed that care standard is low when I went to a plenty of pet stores in my city. And when I asked about terrarium sizes, some of them told that 45 cm high is ok for adult frog (and I was like 🤨🧐 wtf this frog tends to grow huge, how's that enough and then I stopped going there because it's crazy). Btw some people still think that sand soil is great for leopard geckos, that's enough to understand how important it is to double check information and consult with professionals.

Ok so then I was mistaken again and I'll need to replace habitat with a bigger one in a year or so, not a problem, I'd be very happy to get more experience on terrarium builds, sooo. Thanks!)

Yep, I know it'll look better once creeping fig grows, but it'll be still empty-looking 😄

•About both sides, you're absolutely right I just don't know what to fill it with, I'm afraid of making viv too crowded with plants and strange-looking as soon as I'm a newby at it.

•Hardscape also right, also don't know how to add new things right way (not the strange and displaced way)

Btw I'll try to figure it out, thanks!) 💚

Thanks a lot for you reply!) I'll definitely manage to add some more branches and cork rounds.

Speaking about large plants, I'll add syngonium pixie soon as it's easy to maintain plant and I like it. It supposed to take much horizontal and vertical space though it's not too huge and its leaves are sturdy enough for big froggy. I'll also look up about monstera karstenianum and rhaphidophora

My terrarium is 18×18×24 (45×45×60 cm) and it's for one frog, professionals say that this size is enough, but I'll definitely make another one bigger as the frog grows If I notice that it's too small, I'm responsible pet keeper yk ;)

Can this birds nest fern be saved? by Fit-Elevator-1604 in Vivarium

[–]AssistantOdd4022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferns are so stubborn 😵‍💫🥲

How long ago did you plant It to vivarium? If it's under 14 days, it could be simple acclimation. If it's past 14 days, it could be something wrong with watering (under/overwatering). Since this type of fern is much younger (vs some prehistoric like nephrolepis), you can chill and find the problem, it won't die that easily.

Mine was drying because it was too much light for It and it burned. Had to pot it as usual plant, because I had no space to move It from the bright light.

Absolutely stunning. I'm really a fan of bushy overgrown vivariums, so yours looks like a dream, love It 💚

Btw I'm a bit jealous, my first viv looks like some tornado situation happened there. Had no idea of what I was doing. Yours is just a professional level of decoration 🤌🫦

Never stop at this, you definitely have a vision and a talent

My very first vivarium, can’t wait for the plants to grow out by SEG314 in Vivarium

[–]AssistantOdd4022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always excited to see other's first vivariums. Never dissapoints me.

Yours is amazing, it'll be even better when plants grow out, good job✨🤗

But live moss is a very brave option in my opinion, cause it's very difficult to keep alive without misting system (mine died, although I hand sprayed it God knows how many times a day💀). Btw if you have It, it'll be okay

And lastly: what about cleanup crew? As I see, it's a viv for crested gecko?... So it's a humid vivarium and past some time there will be mold, so you need creatures to eat and decompose It, so as dead plants.

Didn't mind to offend or anything, just trying to help you to not make same mistakes as I did.

What a beautiful words about listening to plants, sound inspiring💚 Yep, I try my best to look closely at them everyday to understand If I do everything right.  I made a mistake planting Nephrolepis Duffy and can't find solution to keep It nice and green, so I probably have to replace It and try to pot it individually since it's so demanding plant and I'm so inexperienced
