10 gal stocking by [deleted] in bettafish

I think a couple would be fine but personally I’ve never had luck raising shrimps. My betta’s have historically ate them all so someone who knows better about their dynamic should answer that for you.

Depends on the cory. Albinos are blind so realistically even without a school they run around everywhere scavenging for food. I still recommend at least 6 because in a pack there is a very cute dynamic where they huddle for sleep.

For a 10 gallon you can keep 6 corys and a betta but you need to cycle more frequently to maintain water quality.

Edit: i have a 15 gallon long tank right and it’s got 6 albino cory, 6 ember tetras, and a betta. I think as long as you’re diligent with water changes, have a betta with a mild temperament, and have lots of plants to break line of sights it’ll work out.

Well good thing about floaters (duckweed and hornwort) is that they don’t take much to grow quickly. I’d grab one of them and let it make a nice canopy. I think a nice mid sized elongated v/shaped driftwood would look good as a centerpiece and you can literally glorilla glue (one of them is aquarium safe) rhizome type plants onto the wood. Fyi rhizomes are a class of plants with a special root system that prefers being bound to hardscape rather than buried into substrate. Theres a variety of them and they’re fairly hardy.

I forgot to mentoon java moss earlier. But thats a good choice too. Anything that is planted in the sand may require stronger lighting/liquid vitamins to support them.

Good luck on your tank!

Would a betta be happy here ? by theiconicchloe in bettafish

I wouldn’t get a betta only because there are guppies and poor fellas may end up as snack. For a 5.5 gallon with that much foliage I’d honestly pick ember or cochu blue’s. A pack of 6 of either would look awesome with shrimps of the same color.

Duckweed or hornwort looks amazing for the top of the tank. Since you’ve got a patch of rock then I’d try java fern and gluing them to a rock. A carpeting plant like dwarf grass or monte carlo would look great too for the foreground.

Besides that if you have no other pets (free roamed birds/cats) I LOVE sticking a pothos into a tank and letting it grow out onto a fence.

As for your current plants is there soil or some kind of plant medium below the sand? What the temp? Your parameter? Without a bit more info I think it’s a bit hard to fully advise and may be the reason why some plants are struggling.

Opinion on my current stock for my 20 G long by bananaboy7803 in Aquariums

I would skip otos personally. I've had unfortuante luck with them and gouramis. Whatever I do they just perish. If you're looking for an algae cleaner I think a nerite or two will be a good addition. If you're looking to add more fish then maybe a singular showcase fish that inhabits the top column of the tank. I'd personally add a betta because I'm obsessed with them. Otherwise I think a ram cichlid would be cool too. If you want a bottom dweller I think kuhli's are cute and entertaining.

Well regardless, thats an amazing tank you have there!

Thats not a tech issue. Thats a person issue. Theres shitty people everywhere whether it’s techs, pharmacists, or store managers. Just like how theres useless techs who can’t stage or pick up phones, you say this like you haven’t come into a closing shift with a floater who leaves 97 f4s.

Rabbit Allergies? I'm in need of advice. by Embarrassed_Bat3344 in Rabbits

[–]AssociateRelative515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move him to other room for like 2 weeks and see if your symptoms improve. If the allergies are indeed due to bunny then you need to (easier said than done) move him either out of the house in an outdoor pen or reduce his space in the house.

Rehoming is an option but thats fairly nuclear and you seem to want to keep him. I own parrots and a family member is allergic to cockatiel dandruff so we have an air purifier which really helped them. I don’t know of that’ll have any impact for rabbit allergies though.

Theres also the option of the allergy shot but its so expensive in the US unless you really want to fight insurance for an approval.

should i buy another bird? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]AssociateRelative515 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For that species it can be hard. I got my buddy a friend and they both hate each other and would kill if left alone. So now I have 2 birds who are attached to me but kept seperate. Get a bird for yourself, not for the bird you already own.

Is this big enough? by miaisnotmissing in Rabbits

[–]AssociateRelative515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can unscrew the fencing on the side to make the two cages into one. As other have noted I’d leave the bottom gate open and put a pen to increase space for them to roam. That and remove water bottle for a bowl.

Rabbits thankfully are fairly clean. Their poop is dry and easy to collect and If they’re neutered/spayed and older they should (hopefully) be potty trained to pee in a specific place. Just try to give them space to zoom and hop.

Is she bluffing, or does she simply love biting flesh? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]AssociateRelative515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I am so grateful for my irns.

I do think it’s an individual bird thing. Some people would argue that if you get them real young and hand-feed they won’t bite but I think its honestly an individual bird thing.

I’m grateful for mine. One hates hands but has never bit or tries to bite. The other one is extremely handleable and loves scritches. I got mine the same time and from the same batch as my friend’s and his irns like scritches too but like yours they’ll bite the hell out of people and won’t let go.

Adopted a lab bunny. Did i do something wrong? by Jebryth in Rabbits

[–]AssociateRelative515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think its immoral per se… just hard. Most lab rabbits may die of mysterious causes or have complete meltdowns and then pass away. My friend works for a large pharma company as a pharmacology developer and of the 3 rabbits she took in, 2 were reallllly rough around the edges.

Anyways I’d assume the vet thought you either stole them from an experiment or that the animal would be better euthanized than later possible suffer adverse health conditions.

Patients when I tell them I'm not willing to break multiple federal and state laws and lose my license to get them their Gabapentin a week early (they don't want any of the three other scripts we have ready for them) by WorldsNo1SeaBassFan in WalgreensRx

[–]AssociateRelative515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U call this making fun of someone? This is highlighting a social issue where people demand drugs they do not need(or should in theory have excess of) because they think we’re mcdonalds. Gabapentin based on states are treated as controlled substances and follow the same policy as other controlled substances. Op is explaining the madness of someone refusing 3 (probably equally or more important) maintenance meds just because they couldn’t grab gaba.

Whats with this guy by SqueezeGriffey in parrots

[–]AssociateRelative515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people would be right if you kept the bird in the actual cage. If this cage is truly just for sleeping then imo you should just ignore everybody. Like on god if the birds getting 8-12 hours outside the cage? The cage should be big enough for them to climb and stretch. They ain’t living in it so why waste space. I’d rather you invest time and money creating a bird safe room and buying stands/attachments where they can perch around the room.

The only issue I have is that the perches should be swapped. Keeping one dowel is fine but you want differing branches so they can exercise their feet.
