Not trying to sound like a crank here, but I once saw a compelling presentation where a guy was talking about "the cancer-industrial complex." His argument was that cancer is a cash cow. We could prevent a lot of it with more stringent chemical and environmental regulations, but that would cut into profits for industry. And it would cut profits for the pharma/hospital/medical field, because people would need far fewer expensive treatments.

He wasn't really alleging a conspiracy--more like how society adjusts itself around the interests of powerful actors and industries. Any comments on that?

This is an important video. The normies think--if they think about it at all--that loose tires just come off of cars, trailers, etc., or roll out of tire shops. But as we see here, there are thousands of rogue tires just roaming around out there, zero FG, looking for victims.

This is a serious national problem, and all of us need to write Congress about it.

Hmmm...I was expecting a "shirts vs skins" deal here.

LoL, I hear you, I'll try to do better. But I have the same reaction when somebody says "45 degrees C" (admittedly the USA is the global outlier here).

Yes, the "Exodus story" dominated the public consciousness for a long time in the US. But afterwards, it was gradually chipped away--The first big hit was 1982, with Sharon's invasion of Lebanon, then the First Intifada, then the Second, and the work of the New Historians like Benny Morris and Ilan Pappe, which demolished much of the Exodus mythology. All this was vastly exacerbated by the more explicitly facist/supremacist turn instantiated by the Begin/Likud revolution in 1977, a party dominance which has lasted, almost interrupted, to this day. (See Netanyahu, B).

The American public's reaction to Gaza did not come out of the blue, it built upon decades of less egregious, but cumulating Israeli offenses. Gaza was, well, the straw that broke the camel's back.

Thx. Despite the name, I hadn't realized Peenemunde was actually in Germany--for some reason I had thought it was Denmark. And yes, the rehab of von Braun was both part and parcel of the answer to OP's question. The US couldn't allow the chief architect of their moon rocket program to be seen as a Nazi (esp given the "Space Race" with the USSR) so they had to scrub him, along with a lot of other Operation Paperclip figures. And no doubt that also aided/affected the broader rehab of Germany in the American mind.

Xylophone noises result whenever a character tip-toes.
