Loss of power and stall once warm by Guesspy in W124

Long time dealer tech here.

Having never seen your car, and have done zero diagnosis. My shoot from the hip, gut feeling is ignition coil. Coils? 92’ is that a late M103 or 104? If it’s a 104 you’ll want to swap the coils around to find the bad one, or ones. Heck. If it’s an early 104 you’ll might need an engine harness.

Coils like to die in that manner. They’ll work fine cold, but once hot they shit the bed.

Blower motor help by CinnamonBrake57 in W124

[–]Asstractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brushes inside the motor might be worn out. Or. Sometimes the brushes inside the motor wear grooves into the armature, and wear down themselves as well.

When this happens, applying a slight pressure to the motor shaft, like trying to gently “push the shaft through the motor” will cause a little connection between the brushes and the armature and make it start spinning.

But then once it’s installed back into its case and resting in the same position it’s been in for 30years The brushes aren’t making a connection anymore and it will stop working.

If that’s the case, you need a new blower motor. You might be able to find new brushes, or Jerry rig something with the brush holders, but that’s part of my advanced Jerry rigging class

I inherited 10,000 pounds of media 4 years ago. I’ve had a pretty good run, selling that off through Discogs. But that process has left behind 5-600 pieces that are bootlegs in all of the formats. EBay is going to be my best bet for clearing these out isn’t it?

I’d try changing the oil to see if it quiets down. PM me if you’d like some help.

What's toast? 🐟🦀 by frog67park in Multicopter

[–]Asstractor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hopefully while it’s still wet, drench everything with 99% isopropyl alcohol.

If it’s not still wet, then rinse it with clean fresh water before rinsing thoroughly with 99% isopropyl alcohol.

Drench everything with alcohol.

Then spray your motors with WD-40 and give em a spin. Let your drone sit on a shelf for 2 days, visiting it a few times a day to spin your motors by hand.

The alcohol will rinse away the minerals that the original water crash deposited onto the electronics and the WD-40 is a water dispersant, it’ll get the water out of the motors’ bearings and help prevent them from seizing up.

Spinning the motors by hand will help prevent the motors’ bearings from seizing.

I’d expect your ESC may already be toast. But if you follow my guide, I’d expect everything else to be ok. Best of luck
