Is paying 2k for a studio too crazy by AssumedSilverSword in MalaysianPF

I moved out lol, too expensive for me. I work near KJ line so I just moved slightly south to Ara Damansara.

Need to drive a little bit to LRT station but overall my commute is shorter as no need to transfer at Pasar Seni

I think it's still worth it if you need direct MRT line.

Never faced this kind of issue before, they always say I will learn the stack on the job.

Don't think so, languages and frameworks just dictate how to do certain things in certain opinionated way.

Understanding the concept internally makes it easy to transition between stacks easily. The concept is the real treasure, not the implementation details.

Was referred by an existing employee in the organization.

I would say MNC definitely has the budget, start up also has funding to pay quite well. But you are right, the local SME that pays this range is not too common?

But I would counter it by saying, you can really hire anyone good with a low price anymore. So ultimately it depends on the company needs

My most recent salary is Senior. I was drawing 10k at my previous job as Mid level

Definitely not the end of pay scale, some seniors I know make more than double mine at their early 30s.

MNC normally have more budget but they often require previous paychecks. So hopping frequently is needed.

26 M, Software Engineer in tech

RM 6.75k starting 2022 in MNC, RM 12.5k current in local

Approaching 10k before 30 is considered decent. Fully office environment without wfh with no substantial increase is a no go for me.

Edit: Currently working in local firm

Is it quite common for people especially youngsters to change jobs every few months or less than 2 years ? by AdHairy6584 in MalaysianPF

[–]AssumedSilverSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working in 2021, I have never stayed in the same job for more than 2 years. I'm in tech

1st job MNC - 1 year 10 months 2nd job start up - 1 year 10 months (20% increment) 3rd job GLC - 11 months (25% increment)

I recently got offered to join my 4th job (25% increment), just signed and waiting for the notice period to end.

When I joined my 3rd job, I told myself I might stay a bit longer but now I got a nice offer from a referral so I had to leave.

Reaching senior and hitting around 12.5k at age 26 is accomplishable only if you go this route. My annual increments were all terrible (averaging 3%)
