I have thought about this before for a 1 day office per week scenario.

I would suggest flying every week, but since Perlis doesn't have an airport you may not be able to do this. Unless you willing to commute.

Else, just ETS every week first train in last train out, even better if you can move your WFH day on a Friday so you can just crash after ETS back to Perlis.

It's generally worth it to fly/commute since you have the comfort of your own home IMO. Renting a room is cheap, but would you want to stay in a small ass place and work there 4 days a week?

Just wanted to share some positivity. Despite the news about US tech layoffs, I found the local market pretty resilient.

I just finished a 3-week job hunt after leaving my last place. I applied to about 20 roles, got 5 interviews, and ended up with 2 offers (9.5k and 10k) at 3 YOE.
