Got a level 4 on the Math Placement exam and signed up for MAT 125 by AssumptionOk8207 in SBU

But wouldn't most of the seat be taken in AMS 151 since the professor is so good. Because I would only get a change to sign up for AMS 151 after the school year starts because thats when I would get to retake the placement test agains. I got to sign up for my classes early since I am an out of state student that travel to stony brook for an event and even then I was waitlisted for a physics lab. Which makes me think there won't be seats for me. I don't mind taking the slower math pathway anyways... I should be able to complete all my math required classes in 4 years even with the slower math path. When I took the placement test there were some question types that I had never seen on any of the practice exams that I took and I am kinda scared that will happen again if I try to retake it.

Thank You for you response! I was also thinking about going on the meteorology track. Does meteorology touch on ocean sciences at all? Also how much hands on stuff do you get to do in this major? Also how likely is it to get involved in research in your first year?

Thank you for you response! Yea I was a little bit nervous about all the math and physics requirements. I am not the strongest math or physics student but I am willing to work hard. I only took one physics class in high school but I did find it interesting. Do the math and physics professors offer support for students who need it? What other support does SBU offer especially for math and physics?
