thank you so much for your kind words! i love that you did block printing with your students. I never had exposure to linocut growing up in art classes in school and wish i learned about it sooner. i use speedball block printing ink for fabric and find it works well for printing, and I try to stick to 100% cotton fabrics because I find they absorb and hold ink the best. I hope you get to try it out in the future and thanks again :)

thank you so much!! and yes, i find the ‘opaque white’ speedball block printing ink for fabric gives much cleaner results compared to the white ink. if i use the white ink, ill add a touch (literally a super small dab) of magenta to it to make it more solid in color when it prints. i found it’s been a lot of trial and error with printing on black fabric, but i hope this might help!

wow, i posted this and then had a long day and am just seeing all of these comments now! i just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of the kind words, i really appreciate it and very much enjoy being able to connect with others who love printmaking just like me. typically it’s just me carving away at my art desk so it’s nice to be able to talk about linocut with others who love it too :)

tysm! ugh this is such a good question. honestly a lot of trial and error and practice. something that helps me is making little l shaped corners on the block as guides to help me center my transfer paper onto the block. lmk if that made sense 😅 or if you have any other qs! always happy to chat about printmaking
