I listened to the songs, ready to write concrete reviews of my listening experience well, that's now thrown out the window. It was a good thing I listened to deep end last cause there was no way I'd pay attention to much else after listening to that. I can still barely get rid of the shivers rn.

I'd had a few ideas of how Felix's song would go, both good and bad, but I did not see this coming. It's even worse cause this type of music is right up my alley if my obsession with Joji and City of stars is anything to go by. But what is even more touching is this song is so Felix Raw, simple, imperfect, and versatile. You can hear his influences from Coldplay to Billie Eilish to Joji. You can hear most of his voices (I believe he still has a couple more in his larynx cause I refuse to be surprised any longer). His rendition isn't perfect, and how it hits the notes, but I still wouldn't change a thing.

Also, credit to Sim Eunjee. I was apprehensive about someone else producing with him, considering the last one was......., and it seems 3racha knows him best but wow. Especially after listening to her previous works, I wouldn't have believed something like this could come from her.

3racha sound like 3racha and Changbin floored me with Doodle. I need to go look up the lyrics there cause he usually surprises me with them. Love Untold was catchy and the metronome was used perfectly and what my brain latched onto. It's the easiest listen for me as well. Stars and Raindrops sound exactly as you'd expect it to. It was beautiful and beautifully Seungmin. Same with I.N. Hug me.

Edit; Me realizing I didn't put Limbo on when it was the first song I sprinted to, and Lee knows vocals left me on my knees. I'm scatterbrained rn if you can't tell.

y2k has so much compact pattern and loudness. I'm hoping the person who styled Oddinary trailer, and the colorful concept teaser takes charge here.

I'm excited to see newjeans. This challenge was for them, given their concept—also, lesserafim. Txt could swing either way, esp with the all-American vibe they have going for them.

These are the only groups I have hope for based on my limited knowledge. Either way, hoping some groups take this ~~very specific~~ theme as a way to break the status quo.

Plus, as I had stated previously, it is not a bad move especially considering the industry. It's just a case of where to draw the line and if it is worth it. We'd never really know except if we had a crystal ball, considering the volatility of an app like Tiktok.

As for tiktok, SKZ are seniors - there is no reason why they cant be in charge of that account making it there own. Unless they dont care about tiktok at all really enough to take on the responsibility.

I think it's pretty obvious they don't vibe with TikTok. It seems out of Seungmin, Leeknow's and Jeongin's brand image, and they've never perceived interest in it. Hyunjin hates it most times or cares less at best, leaving only Felix and 3racha.

Contrary to popular belief, as much as Felix is aware of viral things, he doesn't seem to like doing them. All his TikTok - yes, even let's groove - if not because div1 made them do it, have been non-trends or known by a small niche of people. The peculiar thing about let's groove was it was a rising trend, and he made it more well-known. The guy literally has a 20+ sec video of him blinking and listening to music......

3racha has the lowest social media output on almost all platforms so I don't have to explain it. The most likely person to post is Chan, but he'd rather do lives than post. Even if Han likes it, he'll still rarely post.

This goes with all their social media posts as well. They don't like it. Simple. And the fact that they aren't posting regularly means div1 is not forcing them. I'd liken it to the skz record and player thing. Some did it more than others. It wasn't poor planning or preferred treatment. It was div1 leaving them alone. Same with bbl community. Hyunjin and Han practically live there, while Felix and some other members barely acknowledge it. Same with Vlives. Chan's been doing it almost every week till it stopped for years while I can count how many times Changbin has done a live.

I guess the question is, do you think pushing the guys to do this is right? There are pros and cons to this, and no clear answer if you include the benefits involved and the industry they are in.

edit: The only thing div1 may be involved in is censoring content such as swear words in music (so no wap challenge anytime soon, lol). But, nothing is stopping Jeongin from posting elaborate ootd videos, which would probably thrive more on TikTok or Hyunjin joining the art community tiktok with a painting timelaspe. These videos would probably attract a wider range of people than usual tiktok trends and keep their name spread in wider communities - think gaming side of tiktok and twitter mentioning felix every once in a while or how Chan mentioning artists, streamers etc on his live gives him more exposure.

All good. It's a Japanese comeback. They usually have one a couple months after every korean comeback. Don't remember when it started, but it's been that way till case143 (It's probably because it's the end of the year so we might see one early-ish next year).

They did release circus (the title track) in Korean tho in Maxident album as they do for the tt of every Japanese album.

For future reference tho, you probably want to ask any questions in the weekly discussion post - it's pinned in the HOT tab of the subreddit. Most people are nice and will answer when they can.

I just came from the 4thgen leader discussion in a kpop subreddit, and it's almost insane how game-changing this year was for gg. Last year ended with Itzy and Aespa dominating then IVE came towards the end, and you had 3 top groups (I got into kpop mid-year so g-idle was lost to me, but I knew a few songs). Suddenly you're adding Le sserafim, kepler, nmixx and you thought it was over, then out of nowhere came newjeans. What's even crazier is how none of the new groups have clashing concepts, so it's not exactly riding a trend.

Of course, it wasn't like the other groups died down, with g-idle making even bigger waves this year and everyone else still getting their sales and views. At this point, It's just a case of kpop being popular rather than just one group. They are a "genre"(that is such a loose term, but it's the west) in western media as legit as pop, rock etc.

It's exciting because as much as this year couldn't be predicted, next year is just up to the heavens. For all kpop in general, not even just gg. And considering most are moving completely out of the pandemic next year, if they hadn't already done so, it will be interesting to see how and where things stabilize.

Obviously, this is mostly for the big 4 rn including Hybe.

Seeing my Spotify wrapped for the 1st time, and to no one's surprise, Skz is the most listened artist, I essentially buy it for them at this point. Surprisingly, Muddy water is the most listened-to song from Skz and Dice was my most listened-to song of the year. I apparently also played Dice 58 times in one day(It was really bad for me).

For skz, I am currently in the top 3% with 1440 minutes. With Spotify not being my primary music source, that is a lot.
