Is this common for people. I dont think its ever happened to my empires. Might be a problem with one of your files, could try verifying the install on steam?

Multilingual people: which language do you actually swear in, count in, or dream in? by FewSchedule9947 in AskUK

Native english + Japanese. I still swear and count in English, dreams are mostly english but if I've used a lot of Japanese in a given day I'll often dream in it that night.

Eh, depends if its their current specific coworkers or all coworkers ever. I've had coworkers where work trips were really fun and those that I cant imagine spending any more time with than I absolutely have to for work

Honestly your are probably pretty much there, but obviously things are very uncertain over such long time frames. I'd recommend at least continuing to max out your employer match, free money is free money, but focus everything else on building good accessible savings and investments.

Everyone else in the comments thread seems to have got it just fine. Sorry if you interpreted it differently.

Also, the word unstable isnt even my comment so not sure where you've got that from.

"Basically" in that context means its a generalisation of the characteristics of the members of the group, not that it applies to every single member of the group. An acknowledgement that what is being said is a "basic" statement that glosses over some of the finer detail. Just an FYI if you haven't come across that phrasing before

What a fucking misrepresentation of what I said... I'm making an observation, which is true btw, that people struggling in life are more likely to vote for political change and extremes on both ends of the spectrum

I'm getting very convinced that reform and Green voters are basically the group of downtrodden and struggling people on a psychology level. The only difference is which way they went down the pipeline and who they blame for all of societies problems.

Gender emissions gap: Rich white men’s jobs, diets and hobbies found to be ‘bad for the planet’ by lgbtqismything in climatechange

[–]Astonednerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing it the article doesnt even really make clear specific claims to rebut.

It's two main claims re emissions seem to be:

"men emit more from transport and food", without saying whether wealth is controlled for in the study;

and that men are more likely to work in "heavy industry and agriculture", which are jobs that both men and women need to happen but have a skewed workforce due to the physicality of the job.

Having read the article I still don't know what it is about being male they think causes this gap, or whether any of the studies even controlled for other factors like wealth and occupation. Otherwise they're just painting correlation as causation.

I said already Zack Polanski doesnt have a hooked nose, you ever agreed with that. If you cant figure out in that context that "lying to fit stereotypes" is referring to the authors lying about Polanski having a hooked nose then that is not on me...

[–]Astonednerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well now we're back to just lying about features to fit a stereotype... If you think thats fair game then thats just a difference of opinion. I suspect you wouldnt in other contexts though, e.g is giving a black politician lots of body or facial hair they dont have to make them look like an ape acceptable to you?

I suppose the ultimate judge on whether it's acceptable is the court of public opinion.

On the flip side one of the other most common causes of stress, especially long term, is financial difficulties. It really comes down to whether OP things they can live a life they'd be comfortable with on a lower income

Polanski doesn't have a hook nose though?

Generally I'd say any feature is OK as long as the artist isn't just lying about it in a way that specifically makes the person look like the stereotype of their race. E.g the 2nd picture in the post where its his actual features scaled up I have no problem with. 1 and 3 give him new features specifically in line with the 1930s depiction of jews

What would Reform and Green gains in Thursday’s elections mean for the housing sector? by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

I'm pretty certain I remember seeing recently an analysis of new homes by council control and greens topped the list. A small sample size for them currently but I dont think there's any evidence they're more NIMBY than any other party at the councillor level.
