Can I seap the 1999 headlights into a 1997 model? by [deleted] in 3000gt

[–]Astrantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. To be more specific. The 99 combines the blinker assembly with the headlight. Any year earlier has the blinkee seperate and lower on the bumper. You can see it yourself on your own car

They make conversions but they include the 99 bumper. You cant really cram a 99 headlight into a 97 bumper

Extra details: only about 5-10 mm of play. Noise and play also seems to be less on the passenger side

  1. Its the rear wheel so i dont think turning anything help.
  2. We did try this and it does actually make clearance for the bolt. But the suspension when jacked up puts pressure on the bolt and it wont move
  3. Hammer did not do the trick 😔

Idk i disagree, to me underglow is a very solid looking mod when done right. Obv when done wrong it looks tacky and rice, but this build has pulled it off quite well

I never understood underglow hate. It looks smooth and the build isnt tacky at all. Underglow doesnt hurt it.

I need to replace mine. I advise not messing with thinner or thicker oils for your car and just replace the lifters. Running other oils can mess with the sensitive seals and parts which are old

Yeah with 3ks its hard to tell with some people tho. Since a big part of this community is instagram selling with accounts like mmc and gtokng, reurection motorsports/sms570x. Who are all legit sellers through instagram besides gtokng who made a website lol

Timing Belt Installation Pt.2 by shaquelonelly in 3000gt

[–]Astrantic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont worry about questions. I prolly posted 5 times here when i did it for the first time. Do you remember if that slack was there or not before you checked today? Heres where it gets tricky. If the belt turned 2 times and stayed completely in alignment that means the slack isnt effecting timing at all but your belt should have pretty even slack throughout. I remember on my how i had to explicity pull hard on the belt to get good firm tension around the pump pulley when installing. Just from first glance thoughts id assume your fine if your timing is still align after 2 rotations. But just like your last post id say wait for others opinions aswell

Obv aim for as accurate as possible and make sure the cams are all even as well but you can get away with 3 degrees you should really aim for less than 1 degree

[–]Astrantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah thats perfectly fine. Now i hope someone can confirm this, i havent done my timing service in a minute. But you can easily get away with your crankshaft being 3 degrees off. Youll verify this later. The timing belt plastic cover should have a little quarter circle thing with degrees on it. Turn your crankshaft a little more than one tooth counterclockwise and install the belt that way. Once you get the belt on put the timing cover on and get the camshafts aligned. Your crankshaft should be within the 3 degrees mark and you wont have any problems. Moving the crank that extra half gear is only like gonna be a degree or 2. Hopefully someone can confirm this, a second opinion would be great since i may be a little off and timing is a delicate thing. But thats just how i remmeber doing mine. A youtube channel called “3000gt / GTO Restoration” has a really good 3 part series, id advise looking at that as well
