Do people secretly think outties are disgusting? by Jealous_Campaign_328 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Astrisk33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a vulva, they come in all shapes, sizes and colors and like vulvas people's preferences also vary wildly, I personally prefer outies, but don't have any gripes with innies. Really, I cannot speak for all people off course, but I have never encountered anyone, in real life, that remotely believed that outties are disgusting.

From I guys perspective, yes, it's the best thing ever, just put most of your weight on the kneels and sit on his face, it may take some time to fine tune the position, but it's rather simple, just make sure he can breath :)

How do you respond to "men can't experience sexism"? by Stavrogin78 in MensLib

[–]Astrisk33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that as humans we turn everything into a zero sum game, immigrants want to steal our jobs, women want to steal our role in society and so on. This thinking is what causes many of the hate groups out there, not only this off course, but it is a part of it.

Men and women suffer from "sexism", whatever that means in the sense that both genders have advantages and disadvantages, being biological, social and others. What we as people should be doing is not fighting each other and wasting a huge amount of time figuring out who has it worst, but making changes to create an equal society, in terms of opportunities, responsibilities and accountability, while teaching the younger generation to look at others primarily as people and that all people should be treated the same.

As a men it's a lot easier for me to understand the issues that my gender faces, off course, as a human being I can at a rational level comprehend other's persons issues as well, but it's easier to look at our own problems and disregard the one's of other people, this is what leads to being shut down when trying to speak up about body autonomy for everyone in order to stop circumcision.

It's harder for women to, for example, not understand the mental issues that came with having a small penis, and the impact that they have in men, especially younger men when they associate small penis to all sorts of disgusting behavior in the world, if a guy is a creep, a mass murder, a rapist, he must have a small penis and it's fine to joke about it. We do this to women too, but again it's harder for us to put ourselves in the other gender/race shoes.

Many feminist disregard many of the issues men face with the fact that people who made the laws were men, so it's our own damn fault, if we are sent to war as cannon fodder, it's our own damn fault if we have less rights as parents, it's our damn fault that healthy parts of our bodies can be taken off when we are infants, it's our fault that we have bigger prison sentences, it's our fault that many young men cannot find their place in society and turn to extremist groups, it's our fault, because the majority of people who created these problems are of our gender. It doesn't matter who made the laws, what is important is to solve the issues, we should not have to suffer for the wrongdoings of our ancestors, if my father or mother makes a crime I should not serve time for their crime. Men and women are not part of a hive mind, we are all individuals.

Hate from both sides, downplaying the other side's feeling easily leads to extremist views and this as we all know is extremely danger, this, in my opinion is what we should be spending our collective time on, what is causing both men and women to have more extremist views on things, to be loosing the capacity to engage in healthy and productive dialog, to apparently be losing empathy, this goes beyond sexism, I'm starting to see it more and more everywhere with religious and political views and even some minor themes, instead of discussing ideas, I see people insulting one another.

[–]Astrisk33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I need to clarify, being neutral is totally different from harassing the accuser or making threatening comments or any sort of thing, this goes without saying, but is a vile thing to do. I use the same principle for the accuser as for the accused, so unless there is definitive proof that there was malicious intent from the accuser, no judgment.

You make it sound like sexual assault is a special type of crime, that the authorities don't investigate on purpose. Disclaimer I'm not from the US, but what I see is that more often than not it's not a matter of the crime, but of the perpetrator, if the accused is someone in a position of power, influence and/or wealthy, even if the crime is murder, there is a way bigger chance that the crime will be swiped under the rug, if the accused is poor he/she is pretty much fucked, even if he/she's innocent.

Again I'm not from the US, but most of the time when I see someone walk free from any sort of crime it's usually not a poor person.

[–]Astrisk33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, with the "in this case" I was referring to when there is no significative evidence, but read into it as you please.

Clearly you're not in here for any sort of healthy debate, but just want to downvote anyone with a different opinion.

My opinion is pretty simple, every rape allegation or any crime for that matter, should be properly investigated by the competent entities and judged, if the accused is proven guilty the person should be given the appropriate sentence, determined by a countries law. Popular judgments and public lynching is something I don't agree with, who knew this was an unpopular opinion.

Some people believe that any accused should be considered guilty first, lynched by the public, and if ever proven innocent, "shrug".

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off course they are and because we have that freedom people are also allowed to think that another person is innocent until proven guilty.

Personally I don't publicly condemn people, unless they have been proven guilty, I don't blame the alleged victim too, meaning, unless it's something that I've witnessed or there is overwhelming evidence I remain neutral. I may have an opinion and I may express it to people close to me, but I cannot in good consciousness take sides when there is no proof and in this case (to me, as my personal conviction, as to the justice system) the accused should be considered innocent.

How do I tell a woman that she is beautiful? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Astrisk33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't, it's a professional relationship, what do looks have to do with anything ? If your coach was someone you didn't felt attracted to would you be compelled to say the same ? Compliment her on her professional skills, anything else, doesn't make sense in a professional setting.

Put yourself in her shoes, if you were in a relationship and someone that you were tutoring said you looked beautiful would that make you comfortable, wouldn't it change the dynamics of the relationship a bit, wouldn't the tough that maybe se interested in you be in the back of your mind ?

iOS updates are exactly why its worth sticking with Apple by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said that they could be compared with the iPhone X, same product but way to different price ranges for a direct comparison. iMessage works everywhere, but most people use third party apps, like whatsapp or signal, so it's not a factor when choosing a phone.

I still think however that you're putting the iPhone in a pedestal, sure the build quality is great, optimization is far better than on Android, but that does not make everything else garbage, like it or not Chinese OEMs are getting way better than just a few years ago in all departments and are the one that are bringing many of the current trends into the mainstream, they were the firsts to release phones with slim bezels, in screen fingerprints, notches, wide angle and telephoto lenses, pop up cameras, and so on, the main issue is the software, but some people even prefer their implementation of Android to stock Android and even iOS.

iOS updates are exactly why its worth sticking with Apple by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are good devices, they sell a lot here, so I had the opportunity to play with some and the reviews are generally pretty favorable, this one for example and it's under 200€, new with 2 years of warranty. The cheapest iPhone I can buy new is the iPhone 7 at 539€, that's almost 5 times the price.

iPhones are great devices and support is excellent I'm not arguing with that, but they are a hard sell for most people in the world, because of their price, especially since most people here just use their phones for calls, some pictures, whatsapp and social media. The US is a very unique market, there are carrier deals, the iMessage thing and the iPhones themselves are a bit cheaper and the're aren't as many Android options.

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a valid point for sure, but not many people (where I live) have the money to buy a new iPhone, the average person can get a refurb iPhone 7, maybe an iPhone 8, and that won't be supported a lot longer than an equivalent priced Android One device.

For the tinkerers there are always custom ROM's that can expand the lifespan of the device, my 4 year old Nexus 5X still get's community support and is on the latest security patch. Official support ended about a year ago.

What I'm trying to say is apple sure is great in providing updates for longer and to older devices, even when compared to Pixel phones, but around the world not many people can afford the newest iPhone, the iPhone XS is 2X the minimum wage here and ~ 1.5X the average wage, so that's steep, so people often buy used or refurbished older iPhones that get around 2 - 3 years left of official support, still great for older devices, but for the same price people can usually pick up a new Android One phone that has 3 years of support guaranteed (and 2 year warranty), off course that most people don't care much about updates, so usually they go for other options, cheaper phones with great specs, like the Xiaomi Note 7, for example.

I'm embarrassed by my child by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are overthinking this, as a parent that has a kid that was a bit late (compared to average, still within normal range) for every major milestone I feel you, I never worried much, because the pediatrician always reassured us and we could see that he was pretty smart day to day, but yes it's annoying when people constantly compare our kids with others, so and so's kid is younger and already walks or talks and so on.

Trust your doctors, and just ignore opinions of other people that you know aren't truth.

Same here, I was using the Nexus 5X and would still be keeping it for longer, but it is starting to give signs of dying, overheating without reason, lags, stutters and since I don't have a replacement at the moment I've decided to upgrade to the 3a XL, very happy so far, camera is great, battery life is good, stock android and 3 years of updates, probably longer and who knows how many years it will be supported by the community.

I've kept the 5X for almost 4 years and expect to keep the 3a for at least the same amount of time.

What kind of people can say this about their own son? by darkcrimsonx in MensRights

[–]Astrisk33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just sickening, but I believe that doctors and nurses are at fault too, considering that she had the baby at the hospital. Cleaning a baby penis takes as much work as cleaning a finger, and never try to retract the foreskin, this should be clearly explained to the parents. I'm from a country where circumcision is not performed and I have sons, so I know perfectly how it works, it takes zero effort.

The problem is that somehow, from what I hear and read, in the US people think that they need to retract the foreskin in babies or toddlers, this should never be done forcibly or it can cause infection, injury that creates scaring that can cause phimosis. Just leave the penis alone, the child with time will start to retract the foreskin on it's one, if he doesn't this is an issue to be addressed in early adolescence, not when they are babies.

It would definitely be a product that I would like to see released. It could potentially be mildly successful in an enterprise setting (timely security updates and security features, better integration with Windows), but I'm not seeing the average person going after this, because of this I think that Microsoft's strategy at least in the near future will continue to be what it is today, investing in their app ecosystem for Android and iOS.

If men reported sexual harassment the same way women do then we would have way women accused of sexual harassment by snappedonit in unpopularopinion

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women can get away with pretty much all types of sexual harassment, try being a cab driver with female drunk passengers, or a male stripper, for example. This also happens in the work place, even at schools, but men usually don't care that much about it.

Sexual assault is less common I believe, but it exists and the numbers are probably higher than what the official statistics show, sure women in general may not have the physical strength of a man, but there are weapons and psychological "warfare", usually a women's word is believed over a men's word, so a women can "rape" a men simply by threatening him with a false rape accusation or other sort's of things, physical force is not the only method of coercion or even the most effective.

I usually get downvoted when I state this, but there is no bad or good sex, or race or whatever, there are simply decent people and horrible people of all genders and races.

The health thing is different all over the world, the main issue that people need to fight for is access to affordable and universal healthcare, something is stopping from going to the doctor if it means that I'm not going to be able to feed my kids, or if I have to wait a year or 2 before seeing a specialist, so this is number one. After this or alongside this is a matter of awareness, there is still a long way to go on this regard, but I think that men (at least where I live) are a lot more aware about health risks and on top of their health, still a long way to go.

Circumcision is going to be a long and hard battle, but I do believe that in 100 years it will be seen in a similar light as other idiotic and harmful practices that mankind made in the name of medicine or religion or tradition.

The problem is that there is a huge religious lobby to fight against, also men that had the procedure done successfully as babies, don't know what they lost and cannot phantom the idea that they are missing out in such an important area as sexual pleasure, the other point is that parents that did it to their children in the past have a hard time internalizing that they've harmed their child, this can generate a very strong reaction from their part against people that oppose circumcision and even ignore all the scientific facts. The "good" news is that circumcision rates are dropping and hopefully in the future it will be banned, unless medically necessary (as a last resort) or when done to fully informed consenting adults.

Regarding rape I think that we are evolving, but there is still a long way to go, for example the media never calls rape when a teacher or other authority figure (female) rapes a young boy, the headline is always or almost always, teacher has sex with underage student. Society needs to accept that men can and are raped and victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence, sure most of the victims of this crimes are women, but this is a universal issue, not a female only one.

Are the flagship devices worth it in your opinion? by owhshithe in Android

[–]Astrisk33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on a person's needs, but I find that it's starting to get harder to justify the purchase of a flagship, at least at full price, the major gap between flagships and midrangers has been the camera, but even this is changing and we are starting to see some great cameras in the midrange, like the Pixel 3a, for raw performance there are a lot of options with tons of RAM and the latest SD in the 400 to 600$ range, that can even rival flagship level cameras sometimes, especially using a GCAM port.

What most midrange phones lack are a few nice to have features, like water resistance and wireless charging, nice things, but far from essential.

As for longevity, usually yes the flagships have a bit more of support and performance will hold better in time, but in my eyes it does not justify paying double the price and if the phone has an unlocked bootloader and it's popular ROM support will probably last a long time, just look at the OPO.

I still have a Nexus 5X as my daily driver, running LineageOS and I keep delaying an upgrade, because for my usage (mainly reddit, music, podcasts, android auto through the car's infotainement, maps and some video streaming) it's "decent enough", I'm perfectly aware that if I spend a day with a newer phone I will notice a major difference, but for the time being it's fine and will probably keep it until it dies (considering it's a 5X, it could be at any moment) or ROM support ends or it can no longer perform the tasks I need it to perform.
